Car Park Management Services - nasty fine
I parked in the Manchester Science Park car park (the council has seen fit to zealously cut parking spaces near the adjacent University of Manchester and I was in a rush). Received a ticket from CPMS (Car Park Management Services), £100, reduced to £60 within 14 days. Clearly vexed with the price, under £50 and I'd have paid promptly, but £60 is annoying. If I were to simply ignore this company's correspondence, would I invite unnecessary trouble?
Furthermore I'm changing car very soon, my existing car being sold into scrap. Of course I'll be registered to a new car, which is traceable, but I wonder if it would present another hurdle for the greedy gits.

If its a council ticket then you need to look into it more. Did you appeal?
If it was a private ticket then it wasnt a fine. Just an invoice that you dont pay.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

From what I can see, it's a private firm: cpmsmanchester, with their own website.
They purport to be a member of the British Parking Association, with right of appeal through POPLA etc. It's not Manchester City Council.0

Making the parking ticket into a paper aeroplane is not the best advice these days.
 Things changed in Oct 2012.
Post this again in the Parking ticket section where the current advice is do NOT ignore them.
Unless either the keeper or the driver have a Scottish or NI address, that is.0

In which section have I currently posted it?0

            The wrong one!
And only look at recent threads on dealing with these jokers - last six months or so. The situation on best chalenges post-POFA 2012 is still evolving. 0 0

You've posted in the general Motoring forum, post here instead http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1630

Do not ignore the ticket as people like OddBallJamie are suggesting.
The law changed last year and the PPCs are now gaining ground via the legal routes. You now NEED to challenge this rather than ignore.
As for changing car, yes they can still get your details - the PPC can apply for the owner of the said vehicle on a certain date.0

I don't think there are any grounds to challenge it though, I parked in a car park which I thought might have penalties, and I got a Parking Charge Notice. I am the car's primary driver, not the owner. I just object to the price. The parking signs are a bit small as well to be quite honest, lots of text crammed onto them.
I know they pursue the driver, not the car, but I assume the car park has CCTV0

With respect it doesn’t sound like you know anything about how these companies work and whether you have any grounds to appeal or not.

As has been suggested before you need to read some of the recent threads in the parking tickets section of the forum (look towards the top of the screen when in the motoring section). If you’ve had a look and still have any questions there are plenty of regulars on there who will offer guidance on appealing and having the parking charge quashed which is (relatively) easy to do.

Coming on here complaining about it but not doing anything to help yourself isn’t going to get the best response I’m afraid.0
