Not to mention that it's a 3G phone. What's the point of unlocking it?

you can put GSM sim cards in it as well, there is an option to select 3G or normal, actually i think it can auto detect what you put in ;)

Is this link not what this guy is after? I know it's only for selecting o2 here but if India use gsm will this not sort it out?
This help was supplied by DMDz on the "3 is cheapest but is it best" thread.

I know nothing about unlocking phones, so apologises if I'm wrong.

no that option won't work in india as it is a diffrent network...it is hard locked to the original network and will not accept another sim card

Oh I see, that option I linked to isn't unlocking the phone just allowing you to use a dedicated 2g service rather than switching between 3g/2g.

yup i remember doing this as well otherwise the phone keeps on "auto" seeking network. This problem is also resolved by a newer firmware which most of the newer phones should have

Read that Nokia 6630 cant be unlocked yet, any thoughts on how long it will take until anyone figure it out, getting a new phone and I would like to sell my 6630. If/when anyone know I would be extremely grateful for any notification. Thanks
