Mobile not working after 13 months, can I return to Argos?

Hello all,
I bought a LG T385 from Argos on 12th September 2012. The phone has worked well. Several weeks back I could not charge the phone. I took it to a phone shop and was advised the charging port was not working, but they could repair it.
I got the phone repaired. yesterday the same problem has occured.
I now want to return the product to Argos:
1) Can I still return the handset back to Argos even though I have had work carried out on it already?
2) I have had the phone for 13 months, can I ask Argos for a repair/replacement/refund?
any advise is greatly welcomed.

if you can prove that it is an inherent fault, then you can get a remedy.
however, things like charging ports can quite easily be user inflicted and can be difficult to prove otherwise.
your best course of action is to take it into Argos and see what they say.
If they refuse, then you will need to get an independent report stating the damage is an inherent fault.
Is the phone still under warranty ? as you may also be able to get fixed by the manufacture if it is0 -
I just telephoned Argos customer service. I have been advised as it is out of the 12 months warrenty, I will need to get the phone looked at by a independent person. Get the report on a headed paper and take it to a store. I was advised, if this occured within 12 months, Argos would of sent it off for repair instead.
sounds like alot of hassle nowTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
If you have taken the phone to an independent phone shop who have carried out a repair then you have waived all warranty rights as the phone shop could of used unbranded parts.
take it back to the store that did the repair and tell them it has failed again, as now you have a repair warranty with them.0 -

yes, I am sure your right, and the silly thing is, the phone WAS within the 12 months when it first stopped working. Normally I would of returned a faulty item, but being a phone, its something I rely on a lot. I guess my only other path is to get a few quid for it through a recycling company.Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -

take it back to the repairer and get them to fix it as its failed ( depending how long it was repaired).
most of these pay for your phone services require the phone to be working.
If you7 rely on a mobile then even if you have a good top of the range do everything phone, get yourself a cheap phone on the same network, so that if your main phone goes then you can just place your sim in the cheap phone , so you can still make and receive calls and texts0 -
Most manufacturers have a free 2 year warranty I think just how effective it is depends but after you got it repaired from a shop it would of invalidated it.
I just took a Nokia into a official shop and they advised the charger socket was broken and sent it off for free repair but just my luck bought a better phone anyway which is broken lol.0 -
You may have a hard time returning a mobile phone to Argos regardless of the time. A few years ago I purchased a payg mobile from argos that developed a fault on the handset within 2 weeks - the sound completely stopped working. Argos refused to do anything as they said it was down to the phone company that the phone was on (Orange in that case). They said that with mobiles the retailer is not responsible for any part of it, the service provider is responsible if anything goes wrong.
I refused to contact the service provider as the issue was with the phone itself, not the service and insisted that my contract was with them. I stood my ground and asked to see the manager, who also refused to replace, repair or refund. So I very loudly asked him if he was denying me my statutory rights under SOGA, after I asked this about 10 times, loudly in a packed shop they eventually agreed to a return, refunded me my money and asked me to leave the shop"I AM DEATH, NOT TAXES.
