Hi,
Im a teacher and ususally like to give the kids in my classa wee something for Christmas. This year I'm struggling for ideas. I have a slightly younger year group (most will be 8yrs old by then) and have 31 kids. Last year I got a book each such as Wheres wally (the boys loved these) to animal based stories via girly ones and craft based ones. Prices worked out at just over a pound each (box sets, discounts, cashback etc) Last year is was easier to guage what the kids liked - they were so excited by the books they got (the boys loved their's).
No idea where to start with this lot. Big range of ability. Books may be difficult. They will be having a class reward at the end of term which is their positive behaviour system ( they earn pebbles which relate to a film / sports afternoon at end of each term & iget the juice and crisps for that.
Looking for ideas please. Economical too - this is the biggest class I;ve had in a long time - even 2pound a present each is 64pounds!
(Am inclined to make the reward afternoon more special but how?)
Do your kids get christmas presents from their teachers? If so what?
All ideas welcome!!
Thank you

Or if you turn the gingerbread man on his head, you get a reindeer
I made these for my Beaver Colony and they're a bit rough and ready, but you get the general idea :rotfl:

These have been my best friends this year lol. Got 3 packs for gifts myself for the girls for xmas - and have also been using them as prizes for the afterschools group I take. So far they have went down a treat, only thing is there's nothing in this pack for boys, but if you're luck to get these, it'll save you some money
Or I'll be making reindeer with Candy canes with my kids to give as gifts to their teachers, classroom assistants, prefects and other helpers in the school. Of course the teachers and classroom assistants will be getting another proper gift, but these are fun and easy to make.

btw my dd is in juniors now and for the last 3 years the teacher has bought a tub of celebrations/heros and shared them out as they left at the end of the day.
my 6yr old got a book last year and a pencil and note book the year before.0 -
What's the school stance on handing out chockies/sweets? I know as an eight year old, I used to love the homemade goodies our teacher used to being in on the last day of term!
I only ask because a friends school won't allow the teacher to give out 'unhealthy' food.....(which IMO is totally ott but there you go) but I don't know how common this is.
They sometimes have mini craft kits in our local £ shop, this could be good - you could even maybe do them in class?0 -
Both my kids around this age got things like pencils and small notebook. Things that were from multi-packs and split down, maybe with some funsize chocolate bars too. There was a recent thread from a teacher asking the same thing and she got linked to the exact pencil and rubber my dd had received in yr 4 when she was 8. Will see if I can find, is likely to have slipped down a few pages by now.

My youngest son is 8, pencils/rubbers would be a hit but he'd certainly prefer something to eat over anything else.
Decorating gingerbread men/cakes would be good, nice end of term activity and they get a treat at the end of it.Slightly worn out mum to 3 (DS1 May 03, DS2 Feb 05, DD1 Feb 08). When i grow up i think i'll become a UN Peace keeper....0 -
