Cancelling BT service due to price rises

Hello,
I have seen there is a BT company rep on the forum - found no way to PM so hopefully you can chip in here.
I am currently on Broadband(+Evening+Weekend calls) Option 2, with a 40gb monthly download limit. Having been emailed personally about the impending line rental service price rise, I am aware that I am now able to cancel my service by giving notice within 10 days of that email, though I have read in posts here and elsewhere that some customers have had the runaround with claims that their contract couldn't be terminated because of minutiae.
1. Am I still required to give 14 days notice of intention to terminate as stated in paragraph 21 of the Residential Standard Terms? I intend to request an MAC code to change service provider, since I have found elsewhere that I can save a great deal while also massively expanding my monthly bandwidth given my circumstances.
2. Can anyone please confirm that I will only be charged for the portion of the month so far passed with regard to service use, but that charges and payments made for services in advance will be withdrawn?
Viz, my account is currently in debit for services through Oct-December. If I am correct, I will only pay for the proportion of the service used in October (three-monthly billing period start), but not be charged for November/December?
3. Can anyone please tell me whether I am better off waiting a few days after receiving an MAC to contact my new service provider to set up service with them, so as to avoid termination earlier than the 14 days mentioned above, or to ease transition?
Cheers

If you find a post by a BT rep, their profile will give a link on which to send them your details.0

If moving to a new provider in any way involves Openreach you needn't worry too much about it happening in under 14 days.0
