Change the locks...change them back when you leave.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Also forgot to add he also trys to tell.me how to live and where I can and cannot put my furniture even trying to tell me I can't have a freezer in my lounge as not room.in kitchen asked why I can't use one in kitchen which is an ice box so not practical.
As for changing locks I can't afford to do that or I would0 -

unfortunately a tenancy agreement can only be ended with both parties consent, so without your landlords consent you're stuck unless there is a 6 month break clause. Have you checked your tenancy agreement?
Also if you do leave you'll lose the deposit and remain liable for the remaining rent... your landlord could try and recover the rent through the courts. Also don't know if helps my landlord is pain in !!! constantly ringing me texting and randomly turning up at the door has even let him self in and taken photos of my stuff when I'm not there or aware of it. This is despicable behaviour from your landlord. They have no right to do this and if they ever enter your home again you're welcome to call the police (non-emergency number) as it's not legal, it's trespassing. They own the property but you have possession, you have legal possession.
Your landlord can only enter without notice in an emergency (eg: if they do not enter the property will burn down) or they can enter with your permission, which they must request at least 24 hours in advance (and you're free to deny permission in most cases). If your landlord turns up at the door you have every legal right to tell him to go away. Have you written to your landlord outlining your objection to his behaviour?
You do not need to buy new locks, just the barrel, which is very cheap to replace. You can do it for £20 or maybe less!
Out of interest... are you renting privately or through a letting agency and do you know if your deposit is protected? This landlords behaviour may indicate some other unprofessional behaviours...0 -
disgusting behaviour by your landlord, I had one like this, his own wife and the letting agent said he was bonkers, sounds like yours is too.
You do NOT have to put up with this, do as previous posters have suggested, don't allow yourself to be intimidated like thisBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
A cylinder barrel should cost under a tenner (look on ebay). You can look on you tube for instructions as to how to remove the cylinder (you will need a screwdriver and the key) to measure the ends of the cylinder from the centre which will tell you which cylinder to buy. I did it with no know how at all. Do you have anyone you can ask for help with this? Just keep looking on youtube and at the ebay ads until you understand what you need to do (looking at ebay will tell you what measurements you need).
I had a landlord who did similiar. I changed the locks and just said I was on my way out when he tried to call.
You will need to keep the original cylinders to put them back when you leave.
Look at it this way.., if you can figure out how to replace the cylinders (costing you £10) you will probably feel easier living there and it will save you your deposit. If you can't find the £10.., borrow it from someone.
If this is really impossible, then get a security chain but the landlord may charge you for damaging the door frame (although that's not strictly true but it could be called a change of condition) but this will cost you about the same. This will not protect you if you are out though, only when you are in.0 -
I'm guessing you are renting privately because you don't mention a LA. So on the assumption that you have the LL's address and phone numbers I would prepare yourself a few notes and then either write or speak to him regarding the problem.
My version of a letter from your postings would be:
Dear xxxx
I rented (address) on a 12 month contract from you for £xxx pm, for this my tenancy agreement says that I am allowed to live with quite enjoyment.
But during the 6 months I have been at (address) you have let yourself into my home and complained about the way I live, even having taken photos of my home whilst I was out. I have found this to be very disturbing and it is a breach of my tenancy agreement. Whilst my AST is in place you have No right to enter without my permission, save for an emergency, of which having a freezer in the wrong room does not constitute!
I have spoken to you about leaving early which you have not been very helpful about but I wish now to stress to you I have only considered moving because of you walking into my home and complaining about how I live.
If I were to stay until the end of the 12 months I need to know that you will allow me to live in peace as is my right. I will as required ensure the house is returned to you as found when I leave.
If you do not find this request acceptable then I wish to be released from the contract at the end of November with my full deposit returned. This should give you ample time to find and check tenants who are willing to live to your standards.
If you do not wish to allow me to leave early and you continue to enter my home without me being there and without my express permission per visit, then I will have no choice but to report any visit as trespass to the local authorities. I do hope that we can sort out this situation before such actions.0 -

Keep the freezer in the lounge and tell him if he wants it out of the lounge, you'll do that when you move out, so he better let you leave without penalty if he wants it gone quickly. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
Wow he just turned up again I didn't answer thought see what he does and next min I know he in the back garden looking around he don't know I seen him though.0

Grow a pair, go out there and tell him to leave:
Say: leave my property immediately or i will call the police.0
