Washing machines do not seem to built to the same lastings quality there they were even 5 years ago. They all now seem to have umpteen different programmes, where most of us only use about 6 of them maximum. Maybe they have got too complicated. It is important to have variable spin speed. We purchased a fairly basic Hotpoint washing machine which took a 7kg load from John Lewis for £289. They gave a free 2 year warranty and then we purchased a 3 year extension for £129.The total cost to us including delivery was £428. That was 3 years ago and we have called them out once. (No cost). We still have just under 2 years of knowing we will not have to pay out for any repairs. At the end of that time when the machine fails we will certainly go along the same lines again buying a cheaper machine and extending the warranty to 5 years (John Lewis is an excellent option with good after sales service) or if available buy, like someone else has mentioned, a Samsung which carries a 5 year manufacturers warranty the total cost either way would seem to be between £400 and £430.To us buying a washine machine or package that does not cover this period would not be an option.0
