Flight Compensation Delay. what happens if you have not retained your Boarding Card

We have discovered we were on a flight in 2009 that was delayed for 4 hours 25 minutes. We have been told we would be entitled to flight compensation for the delay but not unsuprisingly we have not retained our boarding cards. Is there anything we can do as we understand airlines are insisting on boarding cards before considering claims. Is there any other acceptable way to prove we were on the flight. We also have not retained our credit card statements from 4 years ago. Any advise will be appreciated.

Read the thread of the airline that caused your delay and go from there.

My nearby neighbours who are Senior Citizens and not too "Au Fait" with the internet. They were delayed by Monarch in 2008 on a flight returning from Turkey. Until the subject came up in general conversation they were not aware they could possibly claim for flight delay compensation They quite naturally have not retained their boarding cards and I am wondering if anyone can direct me to the precise thread that cover this aspect so I can take a copy and show it to them. I would like to help if I can as one of them is not now enjoying the best of health.

Legally speaking there is no requirement to have these in order to make a claim.

Most airlines will however (wrongly) refuse to pay out if you don't have the boarding cards.

If you issued court proceedings you'd simply need to satisfy a Judge on the balance of probabilities that you were in fact on the flight. This is best done by writing a quick witness statement and signing it with a statement of truth.

you can see what documentation other have been asked to supply

Depending what info they have, they may be fine. Yesterday I reprinted boarding cards from a Jet2 flight that was over 3 years ago as I still had the reference number and had checked in online
