If you even suspect a company may want to use a CPA, it's best to write to your bank explicitly cancelling that CPA. They have to honour that.

Even if you've asked the company not to auto renew and they've 'confirmed' that they won't?

"Just ring up Green Flag (why didn't you cancel after the problems last year?) and explain what has happened, and they'll probably refund your money."

I did not think I needed to call to cancel something I had not signed up to repeat for, and, the fact that I had told them I did NOT want to be on a auto-renewal made this clearer for me too, and also the fact that I had not received any letter 4 weeks prior to it's end made me think they were not doing it again this year.

Still seems the sensible thing to do after the previous year's problems.
    It's someone else's fault.

They wrote to you to tell you they'll be automatically renewing and you still didn't ring up and cancel?

Even if you supposedly told them to not auto-renew, isn't it fairly obvious from the letter that they don't have this message on their systems?

As somebody has stated - you could have easily fixed this by calling them up and if you think anything different you're stupid.

Are you talking to the OP or Proc?

It would prevent the problems you've discussed and ensure you retain control of the process.

Definitely, the way I would have done it is to have called them again to ask that the auto renew has actually been cancelled/actioned etc, its just covering all bases and to date it hasn't failed me.
