Cooker hood extractor not working

Hi,
I have a Baumatic F60.2SS cooker hood that has stopped working. When I switch it on it makes a noise as if something is rattling about?
I'm not electrically minded at all so have not got the first idea of what to do. I'm reluctant to call someone out as they will charge a call out which I can't really afford at the moment. Also it might be that it is something simple that I can replace myself.
Any advice would be much appreciated

It could be a whole boost of things. With symptoms of 'sounds like something is rattling around inside', it is a non starter in terms of diagnostics.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

How do I go about finding the fault then?
Or do I need to call somebody out? It's only £70 for a new cooker hood so am I as well just replacing the whole thing?0 -

When you say it's not working, can you be more specific? If it's making a rattling noise, presumably the fan is operating. If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0

Also how old is the hood? Is it vented outside?, if not have you kept the filers cleaned?
Beaumatic give a 2 year parts warranty, not sure if that helps you.0 -
Remove the cover and see if you can work out what is rattling? Is the motor still turning and the light working? If so you have power to it, so that's not the issue. Have you cleaned/changed the filter? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

To be fair the filters are very greasy. Listening again there's now no rattling it's just the motor is very noisy, would a change of filter sort this problem do you think?
Would I need to change the filters on the side of the main motor piece and the ones directly above the hob?0 -

Whatever you do, don't call them out. Baumatic have just charged me a whopping £112 call out charge on an integrated microwave that, although bought about 15 months ago, has, due to serious illness, only been installed & in operation for approx 5 months! They tell me that parts are covered for 2yrs but after 1yr you have to pay the call out fee should a problem occur.
I too have a Baumatic cooker hood, but if it ever goes wrong, at £112 a go for an engineer, I think I'd prefer to just replace & will do the same with my integrated microwave should it ever develop another fault. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
