Would You Pay £2000/£3000 for UNLIMITED Gas and Electric Use?

I think I pay about £1300 per year for gas and electric.
I was talking to a friend the other day and said I would easily pay £2000 in a lump sum for a years free gas and electric use. While I wouldn't have everything on all the time, I certainly would be a lot more relaxed about the heating and such.
If this sort of tariff ever came to life, would you do it?
How much do you think would be fair? Basing it on a one off cost, one bill for everyone. I guess I am thinking about it as a sort of tax, but then there is no bill so you can use as much as you like.
Based on what I use, £2000 would be fair, but obviously if it was £1000 then I would pay that for sure!
To make it a simple question:
Would you pay a set price for unlimited gas and electric use?
If so, which of the values in the poll is closest to what you would pay?

Based on what I use, £2000 would be fair but for most families, I guess £3000 would be fairer.
No thanks! Why should someone who lives in a flat or small terraced house be required to support those in a large house? Individual families/single people need to be able to take responsibility for their own use of fuel. I am not willing to subsidise someone who keeps their thermostat at 23 degrees or isn't willing to pay for insulation. My bill for the past year has been around £900 so £2000 would roughly double it.0 -
I don't really restrict my heating or electricity usage as it is - don't get me wrong, I dont wander around in a bikini in my house in the middle of winter, but I don't insist on putting scarves/thermals on in the house either. TV/laptop/lights on in occupied rooms is fairly standard here. My fuel bill, even including an approximate 10% increase in both electric and gas from next month, is no more than £1000 per year.0

I can't see how you could have a "1 price fits all". My little 2 bed place would cost the same as the Queens castle? No. Just no.0

It would never work. Look what happened to StayWarm - they had to abandon pricing based on size of home to pricing based on your actual usage.0

How would it be free if you have paid for it?anotheruser wrote: »I think I pay about £1300 per year for gas and electric.

No, would not work, people would waste it. Used to know someone that kept the shower running for half an hour before using it to heat up the bathroom as she didnt pay for leckie or water.0 -
Perhaps I didn't explain properly - I have a habit of doing that.

I understand that, but that kind of thing would never happen as the UK has an energy shortage coming up and if anything people need to use less and this would encourage people to waste energy and we would have an energy crisis.0 -
No, why would I waste energy just because I've paid up-front? Just because I might be getting £2500 worth of energy and I've only paid £2000 wouldn't make me pleased about keeping everything on all the time.0

I could not tick any option on the poll as it did not include the option to pay for what you use. I much prefer to pay the amount of units used rather than some fixed unlimited rate.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
