Home insurance when history of flooded garden?

  • Thanks for all the feedback. Yes, I think that we have decided to buy the house if we can get a mortgage. I see that not all forumites would agree with this decision, but we have weighed up the advantages of the house against what we feel is the true risk of the actual house flooding in future, and got to this point. I am naturally cautious in most areas of life and have thought about this carefully.

The vendor has today confirmed that they never even reported the flood in the garden to their insurers, let alone attempted a claim. We would not lie in our future insurance applications, but won't volunteer extra information as you say Vaio.

I'll report back when we hear from our mortgage providers as to whether they will lend so that you can know the outcome. Thanks for all the comments so far.
