I was VERY jealous. 6 bedrooms, 3 public rooms. her island in her kitchen is bigger than my kitchen !! 3 bathrooms ( 2 with jacuzzi fitted) and a downstairs loo. Not completely finished but it is fab-u-lous and I am green with envy. She deserves it though. She has slept in a 1 bedroom house with her 2 kids and husband for 3 years waiting on it being built. Such a lovely family who work very very hard for what they have. She had a box of glasses lying for the dump and I said take them to charity shop and I would drop them off for her. Oops I have appeared to have forgotten to drop them off and they are now in my kitchen cupboard
. Still some in box and I will take them to the flea market next time I get a stall
. Scraping a new low here!!
Another of my very close friend's Dad has died today. She is estranged from him but she is still a bit fraught with it all. I picked her up at her Dad's house and brought her here. DS put kettle on as soon as he saw us arriving :rotfl:. He knows us well. She is fine and away home now after a nice long chat about things. So sad really that all our parents are dying one after another.
So today I wasn't working so unfortunately no earnings. I spent £32 in Aldi but I am very pleased at that. My shop didn't look like much tbh but I did have a lot of meat in it.
I made a fabby dinner and all free. Looks a bit beige but was delish and free on slimming world.
So I am nicely full up and happy. Going to watch the voice just now. No doubt be back later xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Just ate the last 4 chicken legs there. Really good. My brother made me a hamper of spices and spice mixes last year along with a masala dabba( which I have been calling a dabbum, Doh) and I used the tandoori mix tonight on the chicken and it was fantastic. I was very light with it as I wasn't sure how hot it was but totally delicious and although it has a heat it was fine. DD doesn't like overly hot, DS loves it HOT HOT HOT and I am somewhere in the middle. So I make things the way I like them and they both moan :rotfl:. We love a nice curry in this house.
I've taken a stew out of the freezer for tomorrow. I had cooked a whole cauli and a head of broccoli tonight so I have a good load of leftovers for tomorrow. A few wee potatoes and a yummy dinner.
Need to plan my menu for the week so I know what I am cooking. Still being angelic on diet and also very few naughty words - I am very very pleased about that5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Busy wee day here today. Horrible weather, it's not stopped raining all day. Keep seeing posts on FB from folks further south that sun is shining there but it hasn't even peeped out from the clouds here.
Been to church, went to cemetery with my friend and her Mum, went to hers for lunch then headed home. Whole house tidy, hoovered and dusted. Washing almost up to date and dinner is cooking. I have also stuck on a tomato and basil sauce, to use up a load of tomatoes I had. I will make that into a chicken pasta dish for DD and I for next 2 days lunches. Hopefully nice and tasty. I've just sort of fired everything into the pot and am hoping for the best.
Dinner is cooking away just now. SW roasties, stew, boiled pots, cauli and broccoli. I have taken out pork mince for tomorrow night and I will make meatballs with that. So all organised foodwise and housework wise. I just need to do some studying and my world will be back on it's axis.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I'll be back later xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Tonight's low fat deliciousness
My son is driving me crazy. He is so bloody cheeky. He is the only reason I break my lent and swear and it's usually to tell him to b**ger off and get out of my sight. He then gets all contrite and makes me tea !!!
He wants to go to college this year instead of doing a 6th year. I am delighted with this as he will get a bursary and I will not have £150 to pay per month for him going to school. This would get him an HNC which means he can go in to university as a second year. He could also do an HND and go into Uni as a 3rd year. The bonus for this would be that the college is just down the road from my work so he could easily live at home and not accrue any debt whereas Mr Mature has decided that he wants to do HNC only and then move to Edinburgh and go into 2nd year of uni. I have tried to explain that he would be adding thousands to his debt but apparently it is 'his decision' Am so annoyed. This is all because his pal is starting uni this year and he could join him in 2nd year. But hey ho I'm only his Mum. He was banging the table and shouting at me so I told him to naff off and he is getting the silent treatment.

:rotfl::eek::mad:
Oh MIT
My son is exactly the same and he is driving me insane:eek:
He passed his GCSE's with ok grades considering he did not try. He is now at college and studying for A Levels and he is seriously flunking them and when I try to talk to him he gets angry and storms around the house (which annoys my husband because he is so rude to everyone).
We did a timetable together and what he did not realise was that I was monitoring him so after a week when we reviewed it he went mad and disagreed with my timings so then we agreed I would use a stop watch. But then he didn't like that because I was too precise with it and he felt under pressure.
I told him he can't have it both ways.
Anyway at the moment I am not saying anything about his work and just leaving him to it, he did some homework on Sunday (last week) and this Sunday and that is all I have seen him do:eek:
We have Parents Evening this week so that will be interesting since I told him just to get on with it.
The worst thing he said to me was that he thinks I only want him to go to Uni because I did not have the chance as I was a teenage mum and I shouldnt put pressure on him with my own aspirations:mad:.
What he fails to see is that I never wanted to do college or Uni and am very happy with my life. I want him to go to Uni so he doesnt end up in a dead end job.
He only doesnt want to go to Uni because he is flunking his A Levels but would need AAB to do the course he wants.
Not sure what to do but as he can be a horrible teenager at the best of times I am leaving him to it and then when he gets his results it wont be my fault he has failed them.
He is also costing me a fortune - I only get Child Benefit and CSA for him and he costs me more than that due to travel etc. I would rather he got a job and paid me rent:rotfl:
Anyway sorry for my ramblings but wanted you to know you are not alone.0 -
Set up a sealed pot 'swear box' - my DB and I did this as kids as my Mum was prone to 'Oh b****r'...correction, she still is at 75.
We did make rather alot of money out of it, quite often doubling our pocket money of 25p a week :rotfl: In this case, keep it for yourself as another form of saving
Glad I've only just caught up on your diary and spotted yesterday's dinner, looks divine - was starving when we got in last night and ended up with fish fingers and chips instead of the lovely roast I'd planned. I'd have been gutted to see it last night and probably drooling over the keyboard!
Weather not been that great down here today (somewhere between Watford Gap and London) - the sun did peek out until about 8am, then a dull, grey, cool and windy day. You haven't missed anything!
I have all this studying stuff with DS yet to come
Overnight cake recipe is on it's way to me apparently...by snail mail it would seem :rotfl:Back on the DFW Wagon:

Erm, I did the same as DS and i'm in second year at uni as direct entrant but have had lots of feedback from tutors etc saying going into third year is really tough so think I made the right decision (I could have gone to a different college for HND but they didn't do it at ours) so I'm sorting saying don't give him too hard a time - well for that but all the other stuff is fair game:rotfl::rotfl:Mortgage OP 2025 £6250/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Thanks guys. It's great to know I'm not alone with horrible DS's. TBH I'm not being fair. He is the cuddliest most loving boy ever but he has an attitude the size of Glasgow!! If I ask him to do anything the stock answer is 'why should I ?' Now he knows this rips my knitting and sends me into orbit. He then smirks and walks away. I swear one of these days I will fly for him. I have red hair and a temper to match .He phoned me tonight and asked me to pick him up from bus and I said 'why should I' One nil to Mum
. I still went mind you.
EE one of my problems is that DS is one of the younger ones in his year so he will just be 16 starting college and only 17 going into uni. Now if he was mature then that would be okay but he is so so so so so so immature ( hope I've got across just how immature lol) that I have no clue how he will cope. He's told me he'll just buy tons of pasta n sauce !!. SS if he would do a course in Glasgow I would be delighted for him to go into 2nd year but I am dead set against him leaving home next year. However it could be the making of him and he might just mature quickly over the next year.
I have spent £3 today on a super duper bargain. Fairy platinum dishwasher tabs (30) are normally £12 per pack. They are on offer at ASDA just now for £4 . I had a £1 off voucher so got them for £3. Am loving this couponing malarkey. Hopefully manage to get another couple anyway. I've just told my brother about it so he is away to have a wee look. I love telling everyone about a wee bargain.
Ali, I couldn't afford a swear boxbut in saying that I am much better since lent started.
So I have kept the very BEST news till last. CSA called today and they have put an arrestment order on ex's wages. This has been issued by the courts so his employer have to abide by it or they will be prosecuted. They missed the payroll deadline this month but hopefully by 19th April I should start getting some money. He owes me £1700 in arrears and they are taking that back over 8 mnths :eek:. I am trying so hard not to get excited as he will end up jacking his job in but OMG how good would that be. The arrears would rid me of a whole card and also reduce my DFD hugely. Please all cross your fingers for me. I've said to the kids that it might be happening. The 1st pymnt would be £410 and I would take them shopping and spend £100 on them each for clothes. I can never do that and would just love them to get something from him.
