  • What a day!! Full of ups and downs.

Funeral was very very sad this morning but at least it's now over. It was standing room only. Good to see so many people paying their respects. Work was subdued when we all got back but livened up later on.

My friend who I help with the cleaning then called me and gave me a lot to think about. She is too busy and needs help. If I could utilise my summer house and get a couple of machines in then I can do some self employed work for her. I could potentially earn £100 per week minimum for about 4hrs work. Costs would probably be about £15 per £100 and then tax at 20%. Would clear approx £68. Very rough figures but all sounding positive. This would all be home based and kids would help me. Real potential to increase my earnings. Am quite excited but would need to weigh up the start up costs against earnings and see whether I think it is worthwhile. Lots to think about.

Went to dancing tonight and it was fab again. Sweat running off of me but that's the idea of exercise. I am on a mission to get 'the dress' to fit by 4 weeks on Saturday. Hopefully between doing SP a few days a week and upping my exercise I will manage. I'll be gutted if I don't and raging as I will need to go and buy another one.

Off to bed now as I am really tired. Eyes are sore with crying earlier so I am shattered. Going to see about contact lenses tomorrow so need my eyes rested.xx

    Sounds good MIT. SP?
How much more will you need to lose for THE dress do you think? I'm sure you'll get there.

  • hello hello. Was out last night so never managed on. Took car though as dress is in my mind.

Verbatim, SP is a speed version of extra easy ' Slimming world. Very strict but am only going to do it for 4 days and see if it boosts my weightloss any. Not a long term diet as hardly any carbs in it. Appears to get good results though. I dunno how much I will need to lose but am trying for between 10lbs and a stone in 4 weeks. No pressure ha ha. I'll make sure I do some exercise every day as well.

KP I hope it does say YES :rotfl:

INOD both kids will be students. DD has a part time job so does DS but it's for my brother so not taxed or anything. Might be an idea to do things in his name. I'll check it out. Thanks for the option as I would never have thought of that.

Paid my £30 cleaning money for today off of CC and saved myself £121.21 in interest. Also shaved another month off of DFD so everything is good.

Still thinking hard about the business proposition. Would be great for extra cash but am not sure. Think I might just be a bit scared about it all but I really shouldn't be.

Went yesterday for a trial of contact lenses. I didn't wear glasses until my early forties and now need to wear them all the time however every time I look in the mirror I still get a shock when I see myself in specs. So off I went for my trial. NIGHTMARE  I had a nightmare getting them in as my eyes kept blinking as soon as optician came near me. Once they were in though I thought they were amazing. Unfortunately I could not get them out. It was horrific. I must have tried about 50 times. My poor eyes were sore and bright red. I was nearly in tears with frustration and eventually the optician had to get them out for me. I was to go back today to try again but I cancelled. I'm not a quitter but I honestly don't see how I will ever manage them. I was getting more and more nervous as the day was going on and I just thought nah, not worth all the angst. My eyes are still irritated today and the whole thing is just making me feel ill. I hate eyes . I'll maybe try again in a couple of weeks.

Nothing else happening. Life is busy busy. Working 7 days a week and social life is crazy but it's all great. Hope everyone is doing well xx

I had to :rotfl: at this - I remember very well my first trial and also then doing them on my own at home. I must have tried 100's of times and my eyes also ended up really sore and red.

I have been wearing contact lenses on and off for about 11 years, I used to wear them regularly until I got a really bad eye ulcer (2005) and was in hospital for a week and then recovering at home for months and I still have very little vision in that eye.
I was meticulous with hygiene but one day I used the water butt in the garden and although I washed my hands before I took my contacts out they think I must have still had some bacteria on my hand as the infection was caused by bacteria found in manky water.

Since then I wear contacts for swimming, clubbing (rarely now) and occasionally when I get bored of glasses.

The good thing for me is that due to my bad eye I only need to wear one contact at a time as contacts make my vision worse in my bad eye (?) so one pack lasts for ages!!

If you can get on with them it will be brilliant as you just have more choice.

 at your contact lens wearing experience EE.

I've had contacts since I was 18, having worn glasses full time since I was about 4 (long sighted, lazy muscle/astigmatism). You do get used to poking your eye :rotfl:, to the point I do it by accident as not blinking becomes second nature, but it does take time and I appreciate it's not for everyone.

My ex couldn't get on with them at all and went back to glasses after a few months. Me, the scars of NHS blue rimmed specs put me off for life :rotfl:

Now hitting the tricky bit, going short sighted too..so it's contacts AND glasses for computer and reading. Not sure what happens next...vari-focial contact lenses are around now, so that might be my path.

Well done too on another CC payment - just love how much interest that saves and brings your DF date closer. Doing brilliantly :T

  • EE and Ali :rotfl: at your lenses stories. Nice to know I'm not the only one with 'issues'. I might try again in a couple of weeks. We'll see.

Anyway, enough of that. I am so excited that I think I might burst :j:j. Remember I was telling you about the self employed earning potential, well it's now a definite. The main work will not come on until summer but I already have another client :D. The woman I clean for asked me if I knew anyone who could do it for her and I just said 'yep' and jumped in with both feet. Need to give her a price and this one will start next week !! She is also bringing on another house soon and said she might need me and DS more to help her with cleaning. Whilst I do her washing, I will just save the money so that come summer I can buy machines to take on the bulk of the work I will be getting then. My poor friend is crazy busy in summer so if I am set up then I can help her as well. The beauty is that I can do it all at home. The potential is phenomenal and I am going for it. Might just be the busiest year I have had yet but I am very excited about it as I know the work can get done over 2 nights, even in summer and I will be coining it in. Need to do a bit more studying and then get going.:eek:

So all is looking fine and dandy in my house and I'm going to be exhausted but at least I will be earning for me and not someone else. I will still be doing my own job during the day but I will be doing what needs done and no more. They have definitely lost me.

    Best go make dinner xx
