What a difference an Eco fan makes.

Today we bought an eco fan for our Charnwood C5. Within half an hour of lighting it we could feel the heat compared to 2 hours on previous evenings. It was a case of having to open the lounge door after an hour and a half as it was getting too hot. Would definitely recommend:)

I definitely think that having something to circulate the air around a wood burner helps distribute the heat more effectively as we used to find one end of the room was still cold.
We were height restricted above our burner as the lintel is probably only 6" above the stove so an ecofan was a non starter. What I did was find an old, metal, rectangular 3kw electric fan heater, one that had the old cylinder type fan, that was just slim enough to fit under our burner. I ripped out all the other heating elements until it was basically a cylinder fan in a metal box and fitted it under the stove facing it blowing to the rear, NOT out into the room.
OK, it uses a very tiny amount of electricity but overall it is so much better at warming the room.0 -

I've been thinking about these but they are so expensive! How much did yours cost? Are there cheap alternatives?0 -

A few of us ordered from Amazon . Com the other year as they were significantly cheaper and we all received our tax back on them as well
Think they worked out at around £50 from there0 -
The likes of Amazon can be good for customers as far as price goes - not sure how good it would be for aftersales care if something went wrong.
Bad news for the guys trying to get by with a business over here though - I have a trade account with the UK distributor for the Ecofan, and £50 is less than I could buy them for even if I bought more than 100 at once.
Also worth bearing in mind that there are a lot of cheap Chinese ecofan copies about - the makers of the genuine article are trying hard to get something done about these - none of them meet the current CE approval requirements, despite what the box may say!0 -

By them from amazon?
Maybe I'll ask for one for Christmas can't really spend £50 on a fan as much I would like one!0 -
I paid more than £50 from our local stove stockist as they were the same price on Amazon. Its the Camframo one which comes with a years warranty. They are expensive but worth it in my opinion due to the difference in pushing the heat out.:)0

Yep the Caframo one is the genuine article - for which you'll get properly looked after if anything goes wrong. From October - all Ecofans sold now carry a two year warranty.0

That's what we bought The conversion on them at the moment is around £68. Which is around what we paid a few years back. But then we all got the import tax back a month or so later so worked out around the £50 mark
I told my own stove supplier and he ordered a pile of them via friends and family and is happy making 20 profit on them0 -
due ti limited head room I purchased a "valiant" 4 blade stove fan for £54 as the ecofan was too tall for the space on top of the stove
I bought it locally they were even kind enough to say that if I wasn't happy they would take it back but were certain it would distribute the heat
I have only had my stove since January and very pleased I did and the fan on top is a boost
