It won't be what's wrong here but the latest Windows update seems to have screwed some up - http://venturebeat.com/2013/10/20/microsoft-yanks-windows-8-1-update-after-users-report-machine-bricking-boot-errors/

I wanted her to have a laptop but she wanted this so she could have it in her bag for college. She is pleased with it.

I regret buying it online, it has not been worth the student discount for the aggravation it has caused.

I am awaiting a call back from microsoft. If they do not give me my refund straight away as they said they would I will be writing a letter of complaint.

I just cannot believe that Tesco CC told me it had been refunded when it had not!

My daughter wanted this for college, easy to carry around and she could do her work on it with the office that is pre-installed.Bought it direct from Microsoft with the student discount.

It arrived yesterday. The only instructions are to switch the power button on and follow the onscreen instructions.

The only thing is nothing happens when you press the button.

My first response is that it is faulty but am I missing something here?

I will obviously ring Microsoft first thing monday morning as they are not open over the weekend, I was just wondering in the meantime.

take it to their service care center, simple.
    charge first, max 1.5 hours.

All very well if you have one of those near you!!

I could not find one and I was not advised by Microsoft of one either.

The instructions say nothing about charging it first, and if you see above, even when it was charged it did not work.

What I object to is being charged twice for something and being told that my refund was being arranged when in fact it was not! I feel I was conned into paying again.

Now they are saying that meant they were organising the return and subsequent refund when received back - and this is not what was said - they even said there was no hurry to return it!!

They have now told me that it will take 7 days from when they receive it back.

I will buy from a store next time(and it will not be a microsoft product!!)- lesson learnt.
