This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Managed to get the correct day and date today .... I hope!
First load of washing is already out and second is in the machine. It's still quite dark and chilly but it's not raining so will see how it goes.
GDD is coming to stay tonight so we are having pork roast dinner at her request. On the advice of a good MSE friend, DH and I are trying one day per week off the low carb, as she says it seems to boost her metabolism. Tried it last week and it did not seem to make any difference but I never put on any weight so will give it a go again. It does make the diet more bearable knowing I have a day to look forward too where I can have pretty much what I want. Am going to slow cook the pork using a pulled pork marinade which has been on all night.
Free listing on ebay again this weekend so must try and get a few things on there too. Currently having some problems with an Australian buyer who does not believe postage costs to Australia, in fact he claims someone recently sent him something similar with less postage than I paid for a UK 2nd class large letter this week. I can see this ending in tears!
Need to do some reading up for my interview next week and find out where I am actually going. I know it's very close to my current job but just not sure exactly where.
DH has promised to tackle living room bookcases today. Watch this space
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

I have a slow cooker full of stew (with beer, everyone needs beer), lots of fruit and veg, yogurts and granary bread. I'm going to scare off this cold with healthy foodI'll force myself outside for some short walks too.
I love mr tru's customers, they keep giving him thingsThe latest thing is garlic. The woman runs a business growing and selling all sorts of garlic, she gave him £20 worth with strict instructions on when to plant it and how to care for it.
I've surrounded myself with yarnI feeling a lot more confident with my crochet so I'm going to make some small baby blankets to sell. I'm trying to make a small Christmas tree at the moment, I've googled for instructions but don't understand the patterns so I've made one up. Looks OK so far.
Our friends came back from their honeymoon with a present for us. They wanted to get something unusual but useful. So they went down to the beach and bagged up loads of seaweed for our veg patch :rotfl: How fab is that?

Morning everyone
redruby - so sorry to hear your sad news, hope that you can take some comfort in knowing he was surrounded all those that loved him when he passed away, thinking of you allx
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Wet, windy and cold here this morning.
DH and myself up drinking a cuppa and enjoying the peace whilst the boys are still in their pits.
Dinner last night was pizza and pasta night - made smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche sauce, pizza, garlic bread and dough balls. Dessert was HM mince pies or chocolate brownie. The tins have something in them at the moment, not sure for how long though! Not sure what time we will be eating today as DH and I are going to a caravan meeting later. When I did food shopping yesterday I bought a cook from frozen pork joint - although they take a while to cook - they're a really good standby to have in the freezer. Dinner tonight may be that with potatoes, veg and gravy or we may have that tomorrow. We have another meeting tomorrow but it is over 2 hours away and is in the morning - so we need to be up and away decent time.
Took a pair of DH's work trousers to be shortened yesterday - it does cost a bit but they are such a thick material I can't get the needle through - at least when the seamstress does it she makes a proper job of it and I've never had to take anything back and in real terms they are quite cheap. I have 2 pairs of work trousers that need doing as well - will take them in next week when I collect DH's trousers.
Was reasonably productive yesterday - seemed to have quite a bit of running around type jobs to do, but did get them done - and did more washing, drying and ironing, housework etc.
Keep safe and well x

Morning,
Well It seems to have stopped raining here (at last), so WM is on with DH's work stuff.
Taking DS2 to work then the usual spot of shopping.
I have mentioned to DH about going for a tramp through the woods later, so I may get there. He said it will be wet and I told him that's what wellies are for!
DH made ravioli for dinner yesterday, it was really good. I just hope he wants to cook more often
Not sure what to have tonight, will have to have a think.
Have a good Saturday0 -
Not been on for a whole, I have just been so busy with gov meetings, work, open eves for dd1 and the normal routine. If huge burglars looked through the window least they'd not come in because they would think someone got there first!
TTFTM - thanks for the heads up on eBay, my stash has been building and I end to find time to do that this weekend.
Sister - have a good day at work
Tru - you've just reminded me with the slow cooker I need to get the chicken out!
Mimic - your kids sound as tired as mine!
Bus - hope you get out for your tramp! I like walking in this weather as it's nice to get back and snuggle with a hot choc
Apart from blitzing the house, I need to redo my budget, girls are now doing extra clubs at school, I begrudge paying as clubs used to be run by volunteers when I was young, but how do you explain this to a child who just wants to join? (I have put my money where my mouth is and coach our netball team for free)
Anyway, rant aside. I make my last IVA payment this coming week and I'm so stressed. I don't know why maybe it's that I am now free and the real budget test begins?
Dd1 is going to town shopping with her friends today so I think I'll do some cakes with dd2 - I knew the store cupboard would be useful one day!
Have a fab day all.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Morning all
Damp and drizzly here today so the washing is already on the maiden.
Fish fed, hubby fed and dropped at work, the poor bu&&er is worn out, he didn't finish til 8:30 last night and was back there at 7:45 this morning he's working 15 day on the trot without a break. Think of the money, think of the money, think of the money!
I've made some jars of apple butter and must sort out the HM ready meals in the freezer and make sure there are enough for hubby for next week.
have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning All
The sun is shining and the washing is on the line again. It's cold again but not as cold as yesterday. Managed to get the grass cut yesterday so the garden is looking reasonably tidy - my friend is having our lawnmower which is a driven petrol one with a key start as we have a lot of grass. The house I hope to go to has a postage stamp of grass in it so I will get another one next year. Hopefully that's the last cut for this one.
DD going out this afternoon till tonight so I can get on with stuff (not sure what 'stuff' is yet!). Need to fix my work trousers as the hem came down yesterday and pack more stuff I suppose. The DW is on and it's time for a shower.
Hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -

I couldn't wait to make that phone call. I was on the phone at 8am on payment day, sooooo excited. They put me on hold and that was the longest two minutes of my life :rotfl: When I put the phone down, I thought "ooooh I'm DEBT FREE!!!! I have NO DEBT!!!!" I had to keep repeating it, it took days for it to sink in
The day after the phone call, the world looked different - sounds cheesy, but I don't know how to explain it, lol.

Morning all,
I wish I had not bought shredded wheat because it was on offer - it's like eating wet mop.
grey and chilly here so we're going on an adventure to the darkest corner of the back room so we can pull out the bookcase and find out what exactly is behind it ... damp for definite and possibly worse
Ironing and a film this afternoon, after I remake the bed which I just stripped. Jet set lifestyle, I think :rotfl:
Have the best day you can xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
