If the fuel protests start up again it will be invaluable as with flour etc in cupboard I will not have to panic. :j
Hi elona,
I hope you get a breadmaker - mine paid for itself just in bread costs alone in less than a year and I only need one loaf a week.
A typical loaf cost 30-40p to make depending on the recipe (and special offers on flour) and you know how much bread is in the shops now.
Another advantage is that you can make bread as and when you need it - no more using up valuable freezer space for bread (except perhaps one emergency loaf)...
..and another is that it's far easier to stock a few weeks worth of flour than to do the same for bread.
Then of course, last but by no means least - is Home Made Bread.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I like all the tips I've seen so far and am pretty good at most of them these days, so here's another...
For the cheaper things, lets say a TV Guide at 50p per week.
Work out how much it costs per year and you find it comes out to a little over £25.00
Now ask yourself is it worth it?
Especially since, as in this case, Ceefax is FREE!Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. You missed one....the smells are wonderful. Made a white loaf late last night (yes my first white) and I couldn't help buy slice into it ... all the lovely smells had been making my tummy rumble.
Now what shall I make tonight?Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

I don't even buy a newspaper (dailies, saturday, sunday)...and haven't done for years. You can get far better information on the net. I also don't have that pile of newspapers waiting to be recycled.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Pretty good as a moneysavingexpert as I follow Martin's mantra by saving money on the things that I can which then allows me to spend on the things that I want to :money:
Which ought to be a basic concept of any money saving I reckon.
There's a difference between being thrifty with money and spending it wisely. I'm hoping that Old Style does settle into the ways many of us have left behind...
..shopping for real food instead of pre-packed pre-cooked E-numbers
..cooking meals with fresh ingredients (that's why so many recipe threads)
..trying to use natural cleaning agents if they're effective rather than expensive "power cleaning" products - but not at the risk of health and sanitation
..spending money on quality where it needs to be and most economical where it doesn't
As I say, I think it's not about not spending money it's about using your money well.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
