Keeping old boiler and adding new pump

I'd still be looking for a magnetite build-up in the usual place on a system that age at an early stage. If you have one and get rid of it I bet all of a sudden your house is more warm and toasty than you've ever imagined.

Yep.I would suggest the people that are saying change the boiler don't really know how to work out the prob that you have

Couple of quick questions.
Your current radiators, are they getting warm / hot evenly? (cold across the top = air in the system, cold across the bottom = collection of rust across the bottom)
Is water circulating enough? - water might be really hot when it leaves your boiler, but because the system is blocked up with rust, the boiler turns off / down so it does not boil the water in the boiler, and the heat struggles to make it to the rads.
My vote would be to check the system for blockages - old filters that need cleaning, valves stuck closed or near closed, etc. If this still fails maybe a powerflush, or adding cleaning products to the system, waiting the required week or however long, then flushing the system.
When the system is flowing nicely, and the boiler is proven to be running correctly, then look into further options, like if the old radiators are hot, but the room is still cold, then you will probably need new rads. If the rads are not hot, you will either need a bigger boiler, or a bigger pump if the water leaving the boiler is hot, but the rads are not.
Thank you for your help.
I will double check all of them tonight and come back to you.
We have bled the radiators though and we are still not happy with the heat they are providing.0 -

Thanks for the explanation, super helpful. I thought it would be better taking a picture as my answer would have been "the red one" :-)
Please would love to hear what you think:
Thank you again.0 -
The pump you have is a 15/60 so you wont be fitting a more Head pump.
As said before you need to measure your rooms, to calculate the heat loss.and check what output your boiler is.
With you having a old system you can be certain there will be some amount of sludge in it. Get the system flushed before changing the rads.
If the boiler is ok output wise, then i would agree in keeping it.A thankyou is payment enough .0 -
plumb, you don't have much luck with your powerflushing do you, if you only get ones on 10mm pipe
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

I love a challenge, tbh i quite enjoy knowing i have sorted a customer heating out when others have failed.

By the look of that pump, you have rusty water in your system. So get it cleaned before anything else.A thankyou is payment enough .0

Would it be wise to instead of diving into changing the boiler or keeping it and changing the rads, to get a complete service including a powerflush of our existing boiler to find out if it makes a difference?
There has been some great recommendations here.
So far I have noted the following suggestions:
Check state of the burner
Check for magnetite blockage
Check output of boiler
Clean system for rusty water
Powerflush
What is the best way of approaching someone to get all of this done? I am thinking the answer to some questions would only come from actually getting the system serviced and flushed. Please correct me if I am wrong....?0 -

1- Get the boiler serviced, this generally wont improve the output. ( ask the engineer to tell you the boiler output).
2- Get the system power flushed., them you can see if the improvement is ok on your old rads.
3- Change the pump at the same time as the flush.
4- If the boiler output is large enough then you can upgrade the rads. just changing the rads wont work if the boiler is not big enough.
5- Open a bottle of beer and mule it over
6- No need to change the boiler if the output is ok.A thankyou is payment enough .0
