Stayed last month for the 3rd year running at the Grosvenor View Hotel(01233 352851). It is situated at the northern end of Blackpool but only a few minutes walk from a tram station, so easy access to anywhere in Blackpool. Not been to Pleasure beach so dont know about costs of rides etc.

Re above post - think the telephone code for Blackpool should be 01253 Kitty.

We visited Blackpool a couple of years ago to see the lights and we stayed at a nice B&B near one of the piers. It was walking distance from the Pleasure Beach.

Fortuna House Hotel - very nice people ran it and rooms were comparable to Travelodge standard. Tel. 01253 344 604. Sure we picked it as it was cheap!

(I was ill on the day we were due to check out and they were very kind and let me stay longer in the room.)

Edit: Just googled it for phone number etc and looks like the same people run it.

Actually De vere Isn.t much more than a Travel lodge, when you add breakfast and parking charges.

We stayed at the Travelodge at Lytham St Annes. - £21 a night for 3 nights. :money:We had this no Travelodge policy but with 2 summer weddings abroad we didn't have much £££ to spare. Parking was on a side street 2-3 minutes walk away. But Lytham was a nice change from tacky Blacky. It was genteel and relaxed and the bonus being all the shops and restaurants on the next corner for evening meals.

For parking we bought a 4 day parking pass from the Tourist Info Centre for £12. The car parks are a few minutes longer walk and are very specific.

Better to book the likes of the Pleasure Beach online - normally get a discount for pre-booking.

I hope you are not going specifically to see the lights, sadly you will be very disappointed. We visited 3 weeks ago and i was so shocked to see how sparce they have got over the years, previous to this we went 5 years ago and they were so vibrant. They have removed all displays from along the prom..not one to be found. The only ones are the ones strung across the road and basically they are as dull as dishwater, one section was an advert from i presume the company that erected the lights, some DR Who and a few cartoon characters.
  • I spent quite a bit of time working in Blackpool earlier this year. If you can negotiate a good rate try the Blackpool Football Club Hotel (never seems busy). Lovely fine dining restaurant called Rowleys who do a responsible set dinner menu and lovely breakfast again in Rowley's.
  • I too visited the lights this year and there were displays along the prom they were at the end heading towards fleetwood. Postman pat, noddy, sooty, a big Egyptian display, a haunted house and more. The Rutland hotel on the front is a nice place to stay we stayed there in June
