Shelia's Wheels NCB issues

Thanks for your reply, just seems very odd that you wouldn't get asked about what happened formally or maybe I'm just too old hat?!
Remember some things are dealt with based on fact and not emotion, the fact that you reversed into another object is all that need be known (sadly), I'm not sure why you are reversing away from a forecourt pump? Even if it's a regualr parking space, you should reverse into the space to exit facing forward.POPPYOSCAR wrote: »It does sound like you were at fault, but I agree it is ridiculous that they settled a claim without informing you or asking for any details.
Glad I am not insured with them.
I think that's the way many of them work (insurance comapny's) and I suppose as the 1st party was reversng into another object, it's pretty much a shut and dry case.0 -
scheming_gypsy wrote: »I've got a feeling it might have been because you didn't raise a claim. You've swapped insurance details and not called yours to advise that you were involved in an accident and wanted to claim. So when she's called her insurance, they've started a claim against you, they've tried to contact you but no response and then just taken it that you're not disputing it.
You mentioned calling the police after the accident but it's unlikely they'd come out as there was no injuries. If I remember rightly they only need to come out to an RTA if there is a reason to; a couple of scratches is just a civil issue and not a police issue.
I did tell them about the accident, I called Shelia's Wheels before she called her insurer so I didn't get tarnished with trying to hide what happened.
I said I wouldn't claim because the damage to my car was just a scratch to my bumper so there wasn't much point (maybe I should have but kinda thought it may cost me in the long run) But surely she could have said anything happened and they would just pay for it because I said there was damage to her car?!Life is too short not to love what you do.0 -
Yeah hindsight I wish I had protected myself. Thing is she'd obviously just got in beside me as I hit her as her engine was still running etc
I have never changed my number and they have called me before so I know they have it, I plan to complain to customer services but I doubt they will give me the time of day as I have gone elsewhere to insure my car...
Never again!
You can still complain.
We complained to an insurance company we were no longer insured with and got compensation for their terrible customer service.
They do not want people complaining to the ombudsman.0 -
BTW it's your responsibility to report any accidents you are involved in whether you claim or not to your insurance company.
Count yourself lucky they didn't cancel you early because you didn't do this, especially with your 'hypothetical' questions. They do record calls.
If you had been cancelled, your insurance would've been much, much higher for many years to come and you would've had less companies prepared to quote you.0 -
I didn't reverse into her as in I hit my drivers side wing into her drivers side door... because she wasn't there when I looked so I made the turning circle wider than you would normally as to safely miss the car by the pump...Life is too short not to love what you do.0

I DID do this... I called twice... hypothetically and then again under my own policy with the claims dept. 1st time it was 50/50 the second it was apparently my fault.Life is too short not to love what you do.0 -

Fair enough, but the accident is still your fault, so whatever the outcome, you've still lost some no claims and will have more expensive insurance due to the accident.0 -

Really?
That'll be news to the OP....
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

my point was more the fact of poor customer service from Shelia's Wheels and where I stand on that... I had been told conflicting information from their claims department, not been told about the outcome of the incident... it's just shocking.
I am aware of the higher insurance cost but I feel like I have been shafted by SW's and wondered what to do about it!Life is too short not to love what you do.0
