Leaving Virgin due to no service at New Address

Options
Hi

I took out an 18 month contract with Virgin Media in early November last year, now the lease in the property I was renting is finished and I am moving to a new flat nearby.

Although this is a a mere few streets away virgin offer no service what so ever to the property and are saying that in order to leave it will cost me £115.80 , the break down being £32.17 for the TV, £57.90 for the broadband and £25.73 for the phone?

Can anyone advise me if these charges are correct and / or if there is any way to reduce them??
Seems a bit heavy considering I don't particularly want to leave but my hand is being forced ??

Thanks for any help !

You took out a contract you are breaking the contract .
Ask nicely is all you can do but you have no rights to break the contract .

Yes, if you are in minimum term and cancel, then you pay the ETC. There are many parts of the UK that VM does not cover, and your contract is for service at the current address.
This comes up several times a week, the answer does not change.
You can minimise the hit by transferring the phone and broadband to Virgin National, but then you'll be in a new 12m contract on a resold BT Wholesale product-not recommended.

  • I was with virgin for 10 years and when I moved out of the area where they do not have a service they still charged me a months fees they are sharks!!
  • they are sharks!!
Hardly, you won't have been charged unless you were still under minimum contract and this shouldn't have been the case after ten years unless you made recent changes to your services.
If you were in a new minimum term contract then you had to pay an Early Termination of Contract fee. All perfectly above board.
  • I got on the bus into town last week and I paid £2 fare.
I decided to get off half way into town and the bus company are refusing to refund me the money
    Owing on CC £00.00 :j

Presmably because you didn't give 30 days notice, as contractually required?
