I was interested to listed to a programme last evening (while stripping the runner bean poles:D)
The programme was about the large number of students paying out sums adjacent to £40,000 to train as lawyers - especially those aiming at the role of barrister - only to discover that barristers and solicitors are training twice the number of students for the jobs available.
The eminent woman now fronting the organisation that represents the barristers, though claiming that legal training was a good grounding for other careers; agreed that better aptitude testing and higher standards would reduce this shameful waste of resources, by ruling out the "no hopers".
However she volunteered that her organisations and the medics had been instructed that including the use of English as part of the aptitude test, would be illegal discrimination.
:wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:
Personally I would think that conning several years of life out of the applicant, plus £40k from their parents, was the greater crime.
[I have spent a week of my life (not) listening to 3 foreign born barristers arguing with a home grown judge. Quite frankly at least one of their clients would have done a better job representing himself and his two co-defendants].
