I thought Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com weren't connected or transferred and required separate logins!
Just try and create a new .com account using the .co.uk details.
Think many many many moons ago when I created my amazon.co.uk account i was told that .com operated on totally different/non connected servers (for some sort of legal conditions) so I had to create a login on that as well.
As far as I can recall, the logins for US/UK (and the European Amazons) have been the same but nothing else is so carts, wishlists, recommendations etc. are separate. That's only back to 2003 though so it may have been different before then when the companies were initially set up.
