  • Sometimes it feels like everything goes wrong at once. You will get through it and hopefully be a stronger person for it. Adversity can help us to learn and grow although it feels so awful at the time. I hope your nan will be ok and that things will start to improve for you.

    Ugh
These things never come one at a time. My marriage imploded, my six year old was diagnosed with autism and then my Mum had brain aneurism. Looking back I have absolutely no idea how I struggled through. It's only looking back I realise how strong our spirit is. I survived, with a few scars that took a while to heal, and so will you! Hang on in there Hun......the tide WILL turn.

  • I can sympathise Thumper7 as I have had a pretty rubbish few months. It's hard isn't it when people around you seem to be having 'better', 'happier', 'luckier' lives. I think your obvious GSOH and ability to see some hope in your situation will help you move forward. At the moment, I'm trying to see change as a positive thing, as an exciting thing. Not always easy I know. My cat too keeps me smiling. This forum has also given support and I hope you will find support from it too! Good luck and keep posting. ;)

Not trying one-upmanship here, but sometimes it can help knowing people are in the same boat - especially if they came through the other side okay :D

In the space of two years...

My lovely dad died of cancer. My beloved cat had to be PTS unexpectedly. My FIL died of cancer. I moved house (5 long stressful months to buy). Split up. Divorced. Moved house (again!). Had major issues with BF (drugs/alcohol/bipolar - hopefully all now resolved now we've moved). My BILs best mate died (my sis's ex, so we knew him quite well). Ex's best mate's son attempted suicide. Same mate's dad died too. Friend diagnosed with incurable cancer (she's still alive). Couple of friends lost friends/parents. Honestly, I was making lists cos I was forgetting some of the major things I was worrying about! (Probably forgetting major things now too!)

Been moved for six months now. I swear my old house was the cause of much of the bad luck. As soon as we started buying it, things went wrong!

Anyway, you WILL get through it and, as they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Cliched, but true!

Awful thinking someone else is going through such horrible times. Hope you have a good support network around you.

As for me today - touching wood as I say it, but things are going VERY well and at this moment in time, I'm bordering blissfully happy. Still fight tears (am now!), but am VERY glad that's all behind me. Don't honestly know how I got throught it without pills (maybe I should have taken them). Went through something similar in 2000 where I got married, husband left after a few months (he had an affair), I'd handed my notice in at work so had that to contend with, and had to sell/buy house. Nothing compared with the last couple of years, but wasn't a great time for me.

Thumper (((HUGS))) I too am going through a lot recently, (see my thread 'when it all happens at once') - thankfully there have been no bereavements but a lot of stressful events and not enough hours in the day.

I keep telling myself that this is temporary, because it is. Congratulations on your job, at least things are moving in the right direction now.

Why don't you light a candle for your friend and uncle when you feel sad about not being at their funerals? I'm sure they knew you loved them very much.

    Xxx

    Happy moneysaving all.

Didn't want to read and run.

These experiences make us who we are and by the sounds of it, you are a pretty nice person :)

I've had a 'run' of luck a bit like yours in the past few years. We've lost 3 of our 4 parents, my sister, aunts & uncles and a couple of close friends. Couple that with unemployment then taking jobs and having to work with some not very nice people does make you wonder sometimes.

But we do come through it the other side. It's tough at times and it's makes you realise why no one warns you about it as you get older.

Keep that sense you humour you clearly have and those feet grounded and it will get better - honest.

Big hugs and I hope your Nana comes through her current problems.

I was lying in bed this morning thinking about things that are not good in my life.... then I decided, as long as I have my health, I can cope with anything life chucks at me.

Me too, I can't wait until 2014. I will certainly be toasting the new year with all the goodwill I have left!

Hugs ((((Thumper)))), you will get through this tough time. I hope that good things are around the corner for all who are suffering.
