Been all over the rags this week .
They fail to mention you have pay to call $ky for anything , at least on VM calls to CS , Faults (if you're a phoneline customer), new connections etc. are free , also fail to mention the cost of the call to BB support may be refunded
But then $ky have never been known for their dirty tricks0 -
BB fault may be refunded, except VM have only told those who have access to the News Groups when pushed (2% of their customers) they haven't mentioned the refund on their help pages or in their email.
It's only posted on here and some other forums due to those people also using newsgroups, and not everyone uses newsgroups or forums so won't know about the refund.
Sometimes it takes 5 attempts to get them to admit to a fault, you won't be refunded for the first 4 attempts and will only get refunded for the 5th if you pester them to.
If by the time you get to speak to someone the fault is listed on the status line, you won't be refunded for the call. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Ever heard of dial-up? Alternatively make use of a friend or relatives PC or go to the local library or cybercafe. All better than ringing an expensive technical support line, manned by script monkeys!

Lets say for arguments sake, your BB isnt working, due to a technical fault on their side, how will MSE help solve the problem?
If you can get onto an internet connection and post your area on the thread then I can contact a virgin broadband tech guy who can look into your problem, you will not have to ring the 0906 number they will be charging 25 per min, if it is not an area fault then p.m me your name and area, he will find your deatils on the system and run tests, again you will not have to contact them, I will do this for you.0 -
Hi Jaymarsh, my old mum is having trouble with her ex-Telewest broadband, the connection has been dodgy for two days now. She's in SS2. If you can shed any light I would be very grateful.
Does anyone know if this change to the T&Cs (ie charging the customer to report faults) is enough to terminate a 12-month contract early and move to a service not run by a bunch of crooks?0 -

VM have said it's not a change to their network, so will try and make you stick to a 12 month contract, whether that would hold up in law I don't know.
xTW have excellent support via their newsgroups, they have staff there until 22:00 each night, and answer usually within a few mins, might be worth getting your Mom to post there, or you post there for her if you have xTW access too:
The newsgroup you want is: blueyonder.support.access.hi-speed
If you haven't used newsgroups before, you simply set your newsreader up with: text.news.virginmedia.com as the news server.

(Don't post account numbers, phone numbers, address details, an email alias is what they'll ask for).
Also http://status-cable.virginmedia.com/vmstatus/summary.do has a list of issues. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc...
