It does boil water normally and boiling water is no good for instant coffee anyway as it burns the granules. I am going to get one, I hate having to wait for my tea in the morning.

Regarding children touching the button - all parents should ensure that any kettle is well out of reach anyway.

Don't put so much water in the kettle then ;) I manage in the mornings fine. Put (just sufficient) water in kettle, get cup, teabag, spoon. Water boiled by then. Pour into cup add tea bag. Job done. :D

Boiling water added to instant coffee imparts a bitter flavour, instant coffee should be made with very hot but not boiling water for a more palatable drink.

Boiling water for tea is imperative though to create the correct environment for the leaf to infuse and impart it's true flavour.

Sorry but thats rubbish, I made a coffee for a mate the other day and he insists the milk be put in first or the coffee goes bitter, well I ignored him and put the just boiled water in first then the milk and he couldnt even tell any difference even after I told him, so I think its a bit of old baloney that snotty folk like to pander too :D

Oh yeah and roasted beans must get fairly hot

i believe it is good to have this and a kettle

it saves a lot of energy - i dont really care about this

but if i need to fill a pot for boiling or want a drink quickly etc then it saves a lot of time

i dont use pot noodles etc although im sure it will be hot enough for hot chocolate powder in most cases

so whilst its not perfect it does have some useful uses
