Virgin Media Contract

Options
6 Months ago, I moved house. I had about 3 months left in my virgin Media contract.

Virgin said they could move me for free, but I would need to sign up for a new 12 month contract. HOWEVER, they also said, at the time, that I only needed to take 1 of my services (phone, tv, or broadband) to the new property to qualify for free installation.

I ended up moving all of my services. I have never actually signed a new contract.

I signed up to Sky last week on the 1/2 price for 12 months offer. It is getting installed tomorrow.

I called Virgin to cancel my TV, but keep my phone and broadband. Virgin have said that I am in contract and cant drop one of my services entirely.

I am a little annoyed as I was told 6 months ago I only needed to keep 1 service. virgin couldn't match the sky offer so they respond with "Your under contract and cant cancel".

Any suggestions?

but you chose to take all your services, therefore signing a 12month contract for all services.

however, just ask them to drop your TV down to M (not M+)
M is basically freeview, and, if you have phone and broadband with them, its actually free. So will be no different to dropping it completely as far as price goes.

It would also put you in a better position to renegotiate the cost of your broadband in 6 months time

You agreed a contract. No signature is necessary. A verbal contract has exactly the same validity.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
