Hi and good morning,
For the past week, every time I have switched my desktop on I get a box with the following message:
Do you want the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer.
Program name Everything.exe
Publisher Unknown
File Origin Hard drive on this computer.
I keep saying `no` but the box is there again next time I open up. Not sure what it is, if I need it, or how to get rid of it.
Please can anyone help?
Many thanks

It's an alternative to the Windows Search function.
Did you install it?0 -
Hi, as far as I am aware I havn`t installed anything recently.0
-
Just looked in my program list that I can uninstall and it says
`Everything 1.2.1.371` 15 September could this be it, shall I install it as havn`t a clue about it.
Thanks0 -
Uninstall it. You already have the Windows Search function. If you need it you can install it again.
What else did you install on the 15th?
Perhaps time for a clean up of your computer.0 -
Thanks will uninstall it.
I had a problem a week or so ago about pages not loading etc..and got rid of some programs. When you mention clean up...is that the same thing? Not sure how to do this and how you know what should be there and what shouldn`t...sorry I am so rubbish at this stuff.0 -
Everything is harmless (and can be very useful). Compared with Windows search, it's extremely fast (i.e. instantaneous) at finding files whose name you know, but not their location.
Its name is unfortunate, if you are invited to uninstall 'everything'...0 -
I have just uninstalled it!
Also this morning am having problems with Internet Explorer, it won`t load and when it does keeps freezing. Anyone else with this problem?
Don`t think its the most upto date on IE 10, could this be the reason?
Thanks again, I really appreciate everyones help.0 -

Oh heck! didn`t realise it was that .... that was so brilliant and we are still so grateful. Feel awful now...sorry.
But must admit I have only had the box asking if the program should make changes to the computer since the start of this week, its not been there all the time. I have still got that link, should I put it back on again or just know what it is for any future problems?
Sorry to be such a nuisance.0 -
If you do reinstall it, there is one option that may well stop the box from popping up when you start your computer and this is to stop "Everything.exe" from starting up when you start the computer.
This is fairly easy and all you need to do is to click the "Start" box. (bottom left toolbar), then go to "Run". Type "msconfig" in this box then hit enter.
When the config screen appears, find a tab marked as "Startup" and open this. Scroll down the list to "Everything.exe" and untick the box beside it, the press the "Apply " button.
You may be prompted to restart you computer to save the changes, and the first time it restarts you may get a confirmation box. If this appears, tick the box to say you don't want it showing again.
You will still be able to access the program whenever you want as all the steps above do is to stop it running automatically on computer startup.0
