OS Daily Thread Thursday 10th October 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Running late so it's a real hi fly by!

Waiting for quote on roof repairs but at least I have faith in this builder, not like the last cowboy

Sausage meatballs and cabbage for dinner, salads for lunches but it's feeling really chilly today so need to look up some low carb soup recipes.

Hilstep - hope you are recovering and taking it easy.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all!

I think I have the beginning of a cold... will be popping pills all day as am starting working Saturday's this week so can't afford to be ill!

Work today and tattoo later. Got to clean the kiitchen tonight.

Didn't make ahead my dinner yesterday so no idea what we're doing probably just eat later.

OH left for work at 3:45 this morning! For my benefit as our washing machine died and he's gone to dp washing at his mums. This one is a keeper I tell ya!

Hugs to all those who want/need them!

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's quite chilly this morning and for the first time I'm considering putting the heating on. I'd like to hold out for another couple of weeks if possible though. I was wondering what to do about the daytime when I am here on my own. I don't think it's worth heating the whole house just for me so I will be buying another cardigan and layering up.

Well, the house smelled lovely this morning as I'd put a chicken and leek soup in the slow cooker before I went to bed. Just had a quick taste and it was lovely :). It's an old weightwatchers recipe but I'd never made soup in the slow cooker before. I am a total convert now though as it was so much easier.

I'm making spag bol from scratch later for tea, always popular in this house and I think I've got some garlic bread lurking in the depths of the freezer. The cake tins are looking a bit empty too so I will make some welsh cakes. It will be nice to have a day just pottering around the house.

I went to my weigh-in yesterday and lost 4lbs :D so I'm really happy and motivated to carry on this week. I have such a lot of weight to lose but I can't dwell on that as it just makes me disheartened. I'm aiming for a stone off before christmas and then my 10% award.

Well, that's all my gabble for today. Hope everyone manages to have a great day whatever they are doing. Take care and as always, gentle hugs to all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x

Up and showered, just having a cup of coffee before getting ready for work. 2 manic days ahead!
Doctors surgery rang me yesterday about my blood tests last week (I was due to ring them today for the results) but the doctor wants me to go in to discuss them. Can't be anything too serious, they couldn't give me an appointment until next Thursday! I'm going to call up at the start of the week to see if there are any cancellations though.
Having the big charity buffet at work today so I don't need to take any lunch in with me!
Hope everyone has a good day!
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j

Dumpling - I take the duvet to the living room and snuggle up under it. Lovely and toasty. Not practical if you're trying to do chores though!

Well done on the weight loss too!

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Wet, windy and much cooler here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was gammon steaks, egg, onion sauce, mash, and peas. Tonight I'm not sure but I have pastry in the fridge so I could make a quiche and serve with salad and chips.

Was only working yesterday until lunchtime so did come home and get a few jobs done, but did manage to make a couple of telephone calls and arrange a caravan event that I needed to get organised - feel much happier now it's in hand - and won't take that much more organising, the venue are sending me the menu options and I will just choose that and confirm the numbers just before the event. I have a nail appointment this morning - so will then come home and crack on with getting the housework done, washing, drying and ironing and general tidy up. House is getting to look a bit of a pit.

    Keep safe and well x

    Mornin'

Dumpling - well done on the 4lbs, keep going.

It feels really cold today, windy and cloudy.

DS2 has a 'smart' day at school today, they have six a year where they have to wear a suit/office attire. So it's his new suit and shoes first outing. I really hope he doesn't play footy at lunch as usual and the suit doesn't get damaged. He isn't getting another one! They may be sixth formers but they still pr*tt about like the younger ones!

Sausages for tea tonight, might do a casserole in the SC.

Will pop to the shops for some bits later and bung a cheque in the bank.

Have a good day all :)

    Morning all
Hilly, sorry to hear about your ankle.
NPM, I assumed the penis was decorative, as you say, wet yarn wouldn't be very good.
    Molly, hope you are OK.
Jools, I hope you get your hours sorted
    LW, waves
Chilly here this morning, fish fed, hubby fed and dropped at work, I've had my porridge & I'm going in at 10ish.
I need to sort out extra meals for hubby tomorrow, he's working 6:45 til 8, it's a long day for him. He's then back again Saturday at 7:30. Then he's working Sunday but only for a couple of hours. He should get Monday off as he's working Saturday, but due to staff holidays he's working Monday through Saturday the following week too, poor bu&&er will be knackered, still as he keeps saying, 'think of the money!'
I've finished one teddy for MF3 and will knit another one at the weekend, but I must look for some different yarn, I used black for the trousers and it was really difficult to count the rows, I'll use something lighter next time.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
