It's my understanding that hardship is NEVER paid when the 'hardship' is due to a sanction. It may have changed, but a couple of years ago, I was sanctioned (I was being evicted and a man with a van offered to help me move on signing on day - wot a low life I am!) so I set up camp in call box and duly, after half an hour or so, I got through. The first thing I said to the lady was 'I've been sanctioned for not signing on' we went through a good 20 minutes worth of questions before she informed me, that under no circumstances is hardship ever awarded, due to a sanction. To my shame, I actually swore at someone over the phone. I appealed the sanction and won it (obviously - not rocket science, that I had a valid reason for not signing on, is it? and when you are unemployed and on a down spiral, you HAVE TO accept any offers of help as suits the person helping) but I have never been so furious! So don't bother with hardship but DO appeal.

The original thread is a year old and was bumped by someone saying "It's an old thread anyway". Most odd!! Or has a spam post been removed?
