JSA sanction help.

Hello

I had my sign on on Friday and due to not enough looking for work during one of the two weeks she said I would get a one week sanction. She said that I would get one weeks money but when it was due today I didnt recieve. When I phoned they said payment had been suspended until they decide the sanction length and they would have the decision by Friday. So my question is if they decide on the one week sanction and to pay me the other week, will they sent it the normal way on Friday meaning I wont get money until next Wed ??

Thanks.

I'm worse than useless on benefits so can't advise but I'm sure someone will know. Or maybe there are past threads with the answer in. Have you tried searching this board?

    Hi Daniel,

Hardship payments can take up to 2 weeks I think :)
  • Hardship payments are not paid the first two weeks of any sanction
  • It's an old thread anyway.
  • Could you apply for some others even if you know you have no chance just to get the numbers up?
I think you have to play them at their own game really. Go round places give in your C.V locally and email places off the cuff. Write all this down.
Also places like Gumtree have quite a few small/low paid jobs, apply for them as well and tell the advisor.

im looking at getting a sanction tomor as all I have found is 4 suitable jobs to apply for.

What about speculative applications or widening your search area (geographically and skills wise)? It will be difficult to justify only four applications.

But if there's only 4 suitable jobs, that's all you can apply for.

I expect the JCP will have a different idea of what is suitable. Also worth keeping in mind that limited job readiness can lead to an early referral to the WP, which most would prefer to avoid.
