Get out of BT line rental saver due to hikes

I'm with BT and ive just recieved the email about the price hike.

So my broadband and calls are going up, I understand I can get out of this as part of my terms and conditions.

I plan to move everything to sky using the 50% off code

Problem is I have BT line rental saver all paid up and the price of this isnt changing. Its still got 5 months left so i'm reluctant to loose the money. A smart move I suspect by BT to keep people tied in.

Can I get out of my line rental saver deal too and get the money back? BT's terms and contions suggest I cant but I wonder if anyones done it.

Thanks

You can't get the money back, as the T&Cs of LRS state this, but Sky will do a deal to compensate you.

Cant I argue that the price has increased, even if I'm not yet part of it. When my LRS runs out I will end up on a higher price, one I havent agreed with.

Also how can they charge me for a service they are not providing?

You cant get out of it,it clearly states in the T&C its not refundable.

Cant I also argue that this would be unused credit on my account?

When your LRS runs out then just leave.

I don't get your point about being charged for a service they are not providing though? Surely if you use the phone then they are providing the service to make the calls, and are entitled to charge you accordingly?

As you have said, the LRS price that you paid isn't changing so I highly doubt you are able to leave penalty free.

It is one of the disadvantages to paying the whole amount up front. Telecom companies don't do this out of the goodness of their hearts. You save money but they keep your custom for a year.

BT response is. That the price change does not affect your agreement with LRS as it is already pre-paid, LRS is not going up in price in January.

See this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4781141 where the subject is discussed.

Its a two way thing you benefit from cheaper line rental in return you agree to stay for another year.

    Yes.

Also make sure you give notice in time. In my case, I have to give 30 days' notice so must cancel a month before LRS expires in order to avoid being billed for a further month after LRS expiry.
