Windows updates

Here's a useful little tip I spotted on the PC Pro website. Windows Update, after installing the updates, leaves behind the downloaded data files which serve no further purpose other than to clog up your hard drive.
This little 4 line command script deletes all those unwanted files.
First copy the 4 lines below and paste them into Notepad and save it to your desktop giving it any meaningful name to you such as UpdatesCrapDelete.cmd
The .cmd at the end is important.
cd \
cd %windir%
cd SoftwareDistribution
DEL /F /S /Q Download
You should now have an icon on your desktop. After making sure all the latest updates have finished installing and rebooted your PC, right click on this icon and select Run As Administrator. It will run the command and delete all the crap.

Thanks for the tip, tried it on windows 7 but doesn't work, when I right click it doesn't give me an option to run as administrator, though if I right click on other programs I get that option.
Ah spoke too soon, got it to work now, was the cmd that was the prob, many thanks again
thanks

If you're using CCleaner (and you should for cleaning general cleaning of your computer) you can add this and additional folders and files to be cleaned under the Options > Include tab
