Broadband provider wont fix faulty router

Options
Unless I sign up for an extended period.

So, basically, I can't get the service I pay for because the router, which they provided, is now faulty.

Surely they can't refuse like this? Its part of the package surely?

I think its probably because the router belongs to you. Same as a Skybox belongs to you.

Just price up some new routers, that will sort it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • How old is the router? Who is the provider?

It's the same as a mobile phone. If that breaks outside its warranty you can still be paying for a phone contract without a working phone.

Are you still in the minimum term with the company? If not you could just change to a different provider who offers a free router for new customers.

This can sometimes be a bit of a hassle to do, and until the changeover is complete, the OP may well be without a working router.
Simply phoning up their internet provider and asking for a migration code may well have the desired effect as the agent they speak to might have targets to meet with regards to keeping hold of disgruntled customers.
If this doesn't work, a new router can be bought for not too much money, and this might be far easier than having to change internet providers and signing up for another new minimum term contract.

    Primus (yeh I know).
The last router packed up and they replaced it with this one 6 months ago.

But, of course, then there are the settings to sort out. Possibly not so easy.
