EDF Blue+Price Promise April 2014
Hi,
I wondered if anyone thought it was worth considering moving away from my EDF Blue+Price Promise April 2014 to one of the new 4 year/winter deals.
Ive made a comparision and as it stands NOW it seems im on a good deal, but with prices rumoured to be going up as much as by 8% in the next few months, im thinking it might be worth making the change now
Would very much appreciate any opinions/advice on this. Thank you in advance

No one knows how much prices will rise in 6m, let alone 4 years.
If you switch now, you'll have security of pricing for a very long period, but you'll be paying a very expensive premium for that security.
Why not see out this winter on your (relatively) cheap EDF fix?

Thanks Macman. I think you make a good point.

I've been thinking about this as well.
Switching from EDF's Blue+Price 2014 to their Blue+Price Freeeeze 2017 would cost me an extra £240 over the coming Winter (Assuming it's like last winter, which was particularly cold).
But, having a 4 year fix is pretty tempting.
Also, it's reasonable to assume that the 2017 deal won't be available in April 2014 when the current deal runs out.
Hmm .. don't know what to do, need a crystal ball!0 -

just be aware that if there were a rise of 8% this winter, that does NOT mean your bill will rise by 8% that's just an average figure, some price hikes by npower as an example listed a figure but by many it was infact MUCH higher than the official figure.
there are threads about it on here from last winter hikes, so don't assume prices will rise by 8% year on year it could well be a lot higher than that figure when u factor in the True unit price hikes.
you may well pay a more expensive rate with the 4 winter tariffs, but the TRUE price hikes each winter could well be more expensive in the long run,esp those on variable rates, and also when those come off short fixed rates, you will be paying an extra price hike for choosing another tariff0 -
I have just asked same question - should have looked on forum first. It would be good to get martin Lewis advice on this.0
