Amazon Cracked Up

Try and think this through before getting paranoid about it.
When you want to complain or send something back to Amazon, do you really think they will ignore all the data from their own systems and try and use a tracking number to go to a third party to find when the item was purchased?
They will use the correct data that they have for your account on their own systems and won't have any idea what the courier's system says.0 -

Why do you think that they would use tracking data supplied by someone else in preference to the order date and the despatch date?
The idea is completely bonkers. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

they would look at the delivery date to see if it was delivered and when, their system should not be able to log tracking details that are before the actual order date, so they have an antiquated system. My Amazon account still shows the item delivered in April.0 -

They might use the delivery date if there was some dispute that meant that the actual date you received the item was critical, but even then they would immediately see if the date was before the order date and accept that it was wrong.
For any other purpose there is no reason why they would have any interest in the delivery date. Even if, for some bizarre reason they tried to use it, you would simply point out the anomaly and they would have no option but to use the correct date - i.e. the order date they have on their system which will tally with their own email logs and all the emails you have. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Why on earth would you do that?0 -

Placed an order today 08/10/2013 for a DVD Rewriter and have the invoice/receipt and confirmation. i took the prime trial so it would be delivered tomorrow.
so far no issue until i get the email to say it has been dispatched and the tracking number to track the item
on checking the tracking details it states
so for something ordered 08/10/2013 they somehow delivered this 300 miles away from me on 09/04/2013
So did you get the item delivered? Has the tracking on the website updated correctly now?0 -
Has it updated the delivery details yet?If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Good questions...no answers though?0

Why on earth would you do that?
i would not do that, i was just saying i could do it
but anyway the tracking details never updated, the drive arrived, i installed this, but PC did not list this in device manager, went onto LG support to see if have updated drivers, could not see any, so went onto their chat and found out the model i had does not work or have any win 8 drivers, even though on Amazon is stated win 8 compatible. contacted amazon and they sent me a returns label to return for full refund.
they still dont now why the tracking was wrong0 -
Yes you're right that is a concern. In addition if anything goes wrong with it they will say you've had it over 6 months and so you'll have to prove the fault wasn't down to you.
You find yourself in a quandary!
They'll look at the date of purchase, in those circumstances there'd be no reason to look at the delivery details.0
