companies house- an alternative?

I often use www.companieshouse.gov.uk at work, to see if any Ltd firm has a different address to what we have, and whether still trading (ie, no dissolved etc)

something came up on twitter, with a link to http://www.worksmart.org.uk/company/index.php

which gives a little more (FREE!) info..

I've just checked my company and can see the exact same (free) info.

Duedil also has the same information, they each display it differently and try to add value on top. I quite like the duedil site as it has some useful markers for gazette entries, but there's not a heap between them usually

I only found the duedil site recently. How accurate are the figures?

One company had just closed down and said £12,000 in the red after deducting the assets. In the process of insolvency.

Vodafone millions in the red with an adverse marker? (i think)

But another smaller company had a healthy mark with a bank balance of £8000 yet £500,000 in the red.

There's nothing out of the ordinary in running a loss whilst having a positive bank balance.

latest turnover / profit figures, for one.

see this co, who owns Allied Heathcare. AH were featured on Channel4- £5m profit, though their over worked carers are on zero hours contracts..
