Kwik Fit hard sell?
Comments
-
Wow so many replies, thank you! Seems I had a lucky escape then! :j I have the car safely back now still to be repaired.
It was the quite aggressive/pushy attitude on the phone that made me think something was up - that and the fact his quote (I think it was 570) was laced with comments like "and that's a discounted rate on the front pads too etc.", "the front discs are destroyed" (Really?), "you can take it away but you'll be driving a dangerous vehicle". Well maybe technically but I will get it fixed soon and I don't think it's as dramatic as that.
Anyway it was obviously not much of a discounted rate as I phoned up my local garage about the rear discs/pads and they reckon 160+VAT. That's a lot less than the 310 (inc VAT) Kwik Fit quoted for the same rear brake work.
Cheers!0 -
How they continue to get fleet contracts (apart from their sheer size) is totally beyond me.
I suppose the big fleet customers get substantial discounts and have to deal with a hard nosed fleet manager?
The retail customer is the 'cream' and gets the hard sell0 -
If I broke down outside Q F I would push the car to the next garage.
The road going past my local rip off tyre depot has a morning rush hour only bus lane and a normal lane. Regardless of the time of day, I drive past them in the right-hand normal lane, just in case they [CENSORED] up my car as I drive past.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Kwick fit are liars and thieves, whether their 'mechanics ' were before they joined their employment, or have been hypnotised to become masters of deception by the Kwick fit 'ethos', I guess we'll never know.
Steer clear of them; they've had me once and tried it on a further 2 times (in seperate branches). I have now learnt my lesson!0 -

Oh company car, that explains it. Thought you were loaded taking a car for an MOT there with a known fail item.
Isn't three years normally change over on company cars? Get them to sort you out with a new one.

If ops allowed her rear breaks to get so low as to grind and scorch the the rear brake disc then I could believe the front to be !!!! aswell to be honest!
Sounds like it was a hard sale - they have no legal right to detain your vehicle, but you do have a legal duty to keep your car roadworthy - which when going in it wasn't!
Probably was the hard sell, it is a ridiculous price - but may not have been an outright lie.0
