Hi All,
I apologise now if I have written this inside the wrong thread.
Basically me a 3 other friends booked a holiday for November this year, person X booked it on their credit card in full so the rest of us all paid £180 each to person X
Since then there has been a fall out in the group and someone else is taking my place. So when it came to refunding me my money I only got back £120 as they have charged me £60 for a name change. (I would like to add in at this point that I was still happy to go on this holiday, it was person A who said I couldn't) so I feel the costs shouldn't be down to me. If they want someone else to take my place then they should sort out the costs. I feel like ive paid £60 for someone else to go on holiday.
I am going to go to C.A.B but just wanted anyone else view on this topic
Do I have a case for small claims??
What would anyone else do in this situation?
Thanks in advance

CAB won't help you - its a personal matter between the two of you.
Realistically someone somewhere is still going to be out of pocket - as the £60 has been paid in addition to your £180 - not part of your £180.
Again personal matter, me personally, I would chalk it up and ensure I never put the responsibility for myself in the hands of someone else...0 -
Technically yes you could take them to small claims.
But it all comes down to what you can prove usually. Do you have anything in writing at all with regards to this? A receipt for the £180? An email discussing payment arrangements etc?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
You said you still would be happy to go, give over, no one in their right mind would want to go on a holiday with 3 people who didn't want to speak to them. What a holiday that would have been.
I think I would just chalk it up and let it go to be honest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

- You paid £180 - can you prove this
- You were refunded £120 - can they prove that you were refunded any more than this??
- You were dropped from the holiday list - write a letter and keep a copy stating you were always willing to go so the name change is down to them and ask for your £60. They have to prove that you dropped out
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
Are "person X" and "person A" the same person? If not, why did person X say you couldn't go rather than person A? Are you still friends with the other two, persons Y and Z (or B and C) or have you fallen out with all three? Who will you take to the small claims court if you go that route, one, two or three of them? What written evidence do you have of any agreement, payment, being asked/told to withdraw?
Having asked all that I am sorry you appear to have lost some friends and are out of pocket.0 -

The goal posts have been moved so many times at one point I wasnt even gonna be paid back anything. Ive only really fallen out with one but the other is backing them and one is backing me. So I would have gone but hey I just want whats mine back.0 -
I would take the £120 down the social club and have a good old swinging time and as for my supposed fiends, say cheerio.0
