Snagging survey - worth insisting on?

We are looking to buy a new build property for Strata and were thinking about having a snagging survey carried out. However, Strata are refusing to agree to this saying it is against their policy. Per our solicitor they have had issues that have got out of hand with agreeing snagging lists.
I was dubious about the value of a snagging survey, but the fact that Strata are refusing to allow it has me suspicious.
Should I be worried? Are snagging surveys worth having or not?

I would definitely insist on a snagging survey even if you do it after you complete.
From my vague legal understanding which I may be wrong they can't deny you access to the property after exchange as you have a legal interest in it but on the flip said I don't think you can delay completion on the basis on a snagging list otherwise they will serve you notice to complete
are you using the developers solicitor?
check out this poor guys experience with snagging

I'm buying a new build at the moment and am definitely going to get a snagging survey done0 -
If we were to have a survey carried out after completion, what is to stop Strata ignoring the findings? I've stories on this forum of developers refusing to fix the snags on the grounds the house was inspected by their Director.0

Yes we are using the developers solicitor, but only because they were £100+ cheaper than the cheapest alternative quote.0

my newbuild comes with a two year warranty which should translate to they have to fix any defects I gave to them in writing although as I haven't moved in yet I haven't been able to test this out.
so next question do you get a warranty0 -
Yes, there is a 2yr warranty, but how strong this in practice I have no idea. They have told me any issues identified will be completed to my satisfaction in that time.0

We used a professional snagging inspection company, who did an excellent job. I convinced the developer to allow inspection before completion. However, there is no issue if you undertake the inspection after completion. The developer will still be obliged to rectify the "snags".
