My ex wants the house sold :(

In 2009 my ex and i wanted to buy a house but i wasn't able to go on the mortgage at the time so he bought under his sole name instead. Since then we have split, he has a fianc! and a baby now but i am still living in the house, we had a verbal agreement at the time that the house would be treated as if it was mine, I would pay the mortgage and take any equity if i wanted to sell etc. I've tried to get a sole mortgage myself but even though I can afford the repayments my salary isn't enough in the bank's eyes.
Now my ex says he needs to buy a home for his family and needs his name off the house - either i get my own mortgage or its gets sold. I kind of always knew this was going to happen but now he is putting on pressure and i feel like I'm running out of options. At the moment the house is on the market with a specialist estate agency who only sells to investors/landlords so hopefully i can stay and rent it back. But not a sniff as yet. I asked my ex if he will pay me £10k (equity in the house) and be my landlord but he said no. I do not want to move and leave my home. I think my ex is pushing for me to sell to the open market and/or reduce the asking price and move out.
We are friends and totally amicable so far but this is becoming very stressful for me. Do I have a leg to stand on here??

you don't say if you have any children , if not, you might think I am being harsh but do you not think its time to move on, make a clean break, let him get on with his life and you look forward to your new life in another home without any ties to your ex, after 4 years its time
easy to say hard to do, I know , move forward and don't look back0 -
None of it is in your name? No, you don't have a leg to stand on.
To be totally honest it sounds like your ex has done a really decent thing by letting you stay in his house for so long. He now needs to move on and sell it so he can look after his family.
I'm trying to avoid sounding blunt here BUT......... Stop being selfish and move out of his house. You can't afford to be there without him supporting you and he can't do that anymore, he has a child to support. Move out and rent somewhere that youCAN afford.0 -
Ps how would you feel if you had a partner and a baby but couldn't get a decent home because your OH was effectively providing a home for his ex instead? I, personally would be absolutely fuming.0

Nope no leg to stand on I'm afraid. Hate to say it but you could have been turfed out from the get go. It sounds like its been over for a while and it was inevitable that he or you were going to move on, what if you get a partner? Would you move them into your exs house? Probably over his dead body.
Time to move out and move on...An opinion is just that..... An opinion0 -

its a shame that a few troll threads could stop someone getting the help/advise/opinions they want0 -
The OP might not be a troll but someone trying to find out where they stand by assessing both sides of the situation.
Bit sneakily done by may have helped them assess the situation as thoroughly and fairly as possible.
May just be a troll though! LOL:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
