I'm going to try a new brand of litter tonight, and also we're going to stop leaving things around for him to pee on. I've made him a little den to chill out in, and we're sorting out his op tonight!

I also let him outside for an hour yesterday unsupervised which I've never done before, which seemed to please him a lot.

my cat used to be quite bad for this even when neutered, about once a fortnight he would pee on something ! Never the floor but piles of washing/bags etc.. we kept cleaning it with water and pet cleaner.

Then I changed his litter to another brand and he has been fine ever since ! If his litter is ( in his oppinion) too dirty he would pee elsewhere but we clean it daily now to minmise this and *touch wood* have been wee free for months !

my female cat does this but also on armchairs, thinking of trying woodchip because it will be softer than the granuals she also like using an empty litter tray so maybe she does not like the feel of litter under her feet, when you say you clean the litter daily do you mean completly or just the poo?

We've had cats in the past who seemed to randomly start weeing outside the litter box. When we've looked at the situation it coincided each time with a very stressful period for us. So the cats were picking up on this stress and because we were distracted not getting as much attention or fusses.
