He keeps peeing EVERYWHERE

So we have a 5 month old kitten whom I adore and is prefect in every way except he's taken to peeing on anything that is mine.
He's not ill as we've taken him to the vets, he just keeps doing it. I'm booking him in to get neutered today, but is there anything I can do to get him to stop ?

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
he's prob just marking (spraying not peeing), getting him the chop should sort that outI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Feliway may help him feel more secure - ask about it whilst he's in the Vets for his snip. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

Sounds like he's marking. Our cat pee'd on items that had been around other cats when he was around 4 months old, took him to the vets, got him the snip and the problem stopped. Now he occasionally pretends to mark things which he classifies as his (including me) which is quite amusing to watch.0

I'm not sure he is marking, mostly because he poos sometimes too? I'm hoping getting his tiny cat balls chopped will help. otherwise he can live outside!0

Hello Gonzo, I am sorry but I agree with Aileth - I feel sorry for the little mite. I can only tell you about my experiences with cats peeing/pooing everywhere to explain why. We had a rescue kitten who did this numerous times a day for several weeks; the only explanation the vet could come up with was stress. Eventually she stopped when we made sure that she could escape into a quiet bedroom on her own away from her brother and mother and any humans - I know that is not always easy.
How long have you had your kitten? Has anything changed recently? Other cats coming in? More people wanting to pet him? Is he the only animal in your home? If so, does he have to spend a lot of time on his own which might make him insecure? Shouting at him or worse (I am sure you won't do that) would only make him worse.
We never threw anything away - washing everything in biological washing powder should take away the smell. Pets at Home also have some liquid stuff (sorry, can't remember the name) you can spray on the marked areas which also gets rid of the smell and any stains.
And - I don't know if this will make you feel better about him - we had another cat who was perfectly well behaved for the first 3 years of her life. We then moved to an area with lots of cats and although we also had her sister who was ok about the move, this cat sprayed several times a day for the next 9 years we lived in that house. And I mean spraying - against doors, cupboards, even the headboard of our bed while we were sleeping. We would never have thought of making her live outside. As soon as we moved again, she never once sprayed, and was a very happy contented cat for the rest of her life. We had tried everything available at that time, including Feliway, nothing worked except a change of environment.
The only other thing I can suggest are the bookds by Vicki Halls where she explains about cat behaviour including spraying. I found they helped me a lot understanding my cats.
Good luck!0 -
We've had him since June, and he's been in the same housing situation the entire time, we've got a dog, but they are great together, if anything, the cat pesters the dog, who'd rather be left alone. He's got options of places for him to chill out, he used to spend all his time in the bathroom - might move him bed there so see if that helps.
I don't think it's stress, but it's something to look into0 -
my cat used to be quite bad for this even when neutered, about once a fortnight he would pee on something ! Never the floor but piles of washing/bags etc.. we kept cleaning it with water and pet cleaner.
Then I changed his litter to another brand and he has been fine ever since ! If his litter is ( in his oppinion) too dirty he would pee elsewhere but we clean it daily now to minmise this and *touch wood* have been wee free for months !0
