EE mobile broadband usage

Hi everyone
I have a 4G mobile broadband router from EE on a 30 day rolling contract, I've already given them my 30 day notice to cancel so will be out of contract in a week or so. I have a 3 GB a month data allowance and I've just seen that I've used 3.5 GB so far this month, does anyone know if they'll hit me with a huge bill for exceeding my allowance? Their website says they should cut me off when I've used all my data...
From the EE website:
Don't worry, we never let you run over your allowance. Instead we tell you when you're running out of data, and let you buy more once it's gone. So no nasty surprises on your bill. Ever.
RUNNING OUT OF DATA
You'll automatically receive a text alert when your allowance is running low - when there's 20% left. Then another text alert when you've run out.
Both alerts include a link for you to easily buy another pass - called a data add-on.
If you don't buy another add-on, you won't be able to use mobile broadband until your next bill, when your allowance is reset.

I received the 1st text on the router telling me I had 20% remaining about a week ago but haven't received another text and haven't been cut off yet! It Have any other EE customers ever gone over their allowance and confirm they weren't hit with a "nasty surprise"?!
Should I turn off my router and stop using it or see how far I can push it til they cut me off?!

Just to update, I was finally cut off this morning! I was first redirected to an EE page telling me I had some data left, then shortly after was directed to another page saying I'd run out of time!
The final counter read 3.49 GB so lets see if they hit me with a bill!0 -
Sorry! Double post!0
