    The difference is 10p

Makes no difference if I wanted it by a certain date and second class meant it didn't arrive.

    Why take the chance?

I look at a lot of factors when I buy, and delivery dates and methods are one of them.
Regardless of the free postage I'd bid on your item because it offered first rather than second class postage. If it then took longer to arrive because it had actually been sent second I'd be pretty miffed tbh.

Miffed enough to mark stars down in other categories?

Leaves despatch vulnerable, technically that's how quick you despatch it, but if you're sending by a slower service, increasing the delivery time, that's fair game for lower DSR in my book. Especially when it seems a lot of buyers already equate despatch time with delivery time.

If you !!!! someone off enough, they'll find a way to get back at you, regardless of how right the method they use to do it is.

Me personally, probably not but I guess you could look at it as not as described, yes, the item is but the delivery method isn't so marking a star down there would perhaps cover it for some folk.

Buyers can and will mark down the other stars if they're not happy, even if they bear no relation to the problem. For most premium sellers they will only be able to hit item as described and dispatch time. If the weather is not right or the moon phase is wrong they tend to mark those at 1*.
