DH is not keen on the idea of leaving it running too much, it's labelled as 180w and I could see him doing the sums in his head as to how much it'd cost. Maybe I should leave it on the low setting tonight as we're watching TV, that way he should see that it's not going full pelt 24/7.
Ours goes on at roughly 2/3 capacity so it isn't running all the time. (I have a somewhat frugal other half who has Done The Maths.)
I don't think I'll get anything done tonight as the Hangover Fairy is visiting. :rotfl:‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Big piles of stuff decluttered to the post office, car (for recycling), charity shop and a small pile has gone up to the attic. Shower room done, bathroom done yesterday, so I've crossed them off my list and I've zapped the dog hairs on the worst of the stairs. The place looks a lot better - I'm another one who gets a bit jangly if it's all in a muddle.
We have a dehumidifier going in the basement most of the time. The cost of repairing the fabric of the house, replastering, painting, replacing rotting wood, demoulding areas where the damp builds up has been so horrendous in the past, to say nothing of tanking various walls (we're built in to the side of a hill) that I never worry about the cost of running it. The trick is to remember to empty it when it's nearly full - Overflows R Not Us anymore.Better is good enough.0 -

This is an excellent point well made; it had got to the stage of the carpets feeling a bit damp under foot and if those had ended up needing replaced I dread to think of the cost involved. That said, I would've replaced them with something NOT cream coloured. 5 children here and... yeah. Minging.short_bird wrote: »Ours goes on at roughly 2/3 capacity so it isn't running all the time. DH pays the leccy bill and grudges anything with a plug on it! I pay for the groceries and he complains if there is no wine and has asked for beef wellington for dinner tomorrow. It's easy to care less when it's not your cash I guessHope you're feeling better soon!

Thankyou! I have other vested interests, insomuch they have brought me 200 ciggies back from their travels and they're doing HM Chinese tonight including THE BEST sticky ribs ever :rotfl:
Ironing all done and away. Off for a shower, if I can bring myself to mucky up my lovely shiny bathroom... :eek:0 -
Crikey - so many of you do so much more. I have just given the sink and bath a wipe, picked up the clothes on the bathroom floor and took the rubbish downstairs. Couldn't clean the toilet as the toilet brush has broken although will give it a squirt of bleach tonight.Saving for Christmas 2017 £120/£400 :beer:0

On the subject of dehumidifiers - ours lives in the hall, on low most of the time (unless I have damp washing indoors, when I turn it up) and I no longer have to mop all the windowsills every morning in the cooler weather. It cuts out automatically when it's full, and the green light on top goes red; I use the water out of it to water the pots of herbs on the patio.:o
Nut loaf and carrot'n'orange cake made, and currently on the cooling rack. The cake will go in the tin ready for Mr LW's lunch boxes, and the nut loaf will be cut into 8 slices and frozen - we're going to be eating the last 2 slices of the previous one tomorrow with sweet'n'sour rice and pineapple chunks. *Note to self - get Mr LW to pour a little sherry into a little jug for the sweet'n'sour sauce, as the sherry decanter is bloomin' heavy.;)
Giant mountain of washing up done and put away; kitchen re-sparkled.:D
Mr LW has just called to say he's on his way home; so I just have time to do my Brain Training, then make some chips to go with the 2nd half of the qu8iche I made yesterday.:o
Touch wood, no weird stuff with my eyes today.:TIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
