Hi hun, out of interest how much was the original debt for and what charges were added on by bailiff company. Did he try and and charge you for a van. And i have just come in so not read thread all the way through. when was the original walking possesion for. Also find out if the bailiff was certified. If not then he was entitled to come into your house at all. even if money was owing.Night Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

The original debt was for £620 and it now stands at £1176....he never visited or gained entry to my new property....just dropped a letter through the door...the debt was from 10 years ago0 -
thanks for the info, i did ring national debtline and they were wonderful, i have allready done several of the suggestions she has made, when i read some of the posts on here and the massive debts people have unfortunately found them in, mine look small and are just utility bills and council tax but its all still managed to keep me awake at nights and worry myself sick since owning my own house at 18 this is the first time ive been without house insurance, every creak i hear in the house makes me think that its going to fall down or something, sounds silly i know. thanks for all your help everyone. Most companies will be willing to help if you keep them in the loop tell them whats happening and seek advice - things should never ever go as far as baliffs there are so many places to get help before then.

Hi RII - What a shame you hadn't found this site before. If, as you say, the 'debt' was 10 years old, and you had made no payments, or acknowledged the debt, in writing, during that time, then almost certainly the debt would have fallen under the Limitations Act - it would have been classed as 'statute barred' and could not have been pursued against your wishes.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Hangon a minute. what was the debt for hun. Was it council tax or something else. did you have a ccj, Have you checked your credit file to see if there is anything on there. As Rog says if the debt was ten years old then it should have been statute barred. can you post up all the details if possible of dates and when the original walking possession was done and was the same company this time round. I am going to have a check on the company you PMd me. Or should i say i will find the person who will know about them.Night Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ok, Have checked for you and there are two MR ***********. looks like there is a Mrs ******** as well. And they are both certified. You could send a subject access request off to the bailiff company and find out what the extra charges were, There are set fees they can charge especially if its for council tax.Night Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:
