What Benefits at 60?

My wife retirement age has gone up to 65 and four months, this is when she will receive the state pension. But she will be 60 in 2014
Will she receive other benefits at 60 IE bus pass, eye test and prescriptions. Or will she have to wait for these as well until she is 65.
Her date of birth 01-03-1954

So, in reality, it has only gone up four months from what she was expecting. Not too bad.ill she receive other benefits at 60 IE bus pass, eye test and prescriptions. Or will she have to wait for these as well until she is 65.
For her, it is state pension age for travel, 60 for eye test and prescriptions.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Its an awful big jump- my birthdate is 1/3/1952 and I retire at 61 yrs 10 months.
So if Id been born 2 years later I would have had to work almost another 4 years:eek:0 -
The increase in retirement age is correct - I'm in similar bracket - and better than previous plans by several months.
The only 'benefit' at 60 that I've managed to spot is eligibility for Senior Rail Card (assuming not a London resident).somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

The move from 60 to 65 has been known for 20 years.
The fact that it has been known doesn't mean it isn't a big jump for those affected?
But as has been pointed out, it could have been worse.....:)0 -
I thought equality was a good thing.0

You can get a free Merseytravel pass here in Liverpool for the buses; trains; and ferries at 60.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
