Deterring cats advice please,

Options
I have had an issue with a certain cat in my garden for a while using it as a toilet. There are cat faeces everywhere.

That is bad enough, but they have now started to attack my small animals. I got there in time today before they killed a guinea pig.

Does anyone have any good tried and tested tips as citrus, etc doesn't work and they come from all angles so prickles isn't an option.

get a powerful water pistol , every time you see a cat give it a blast , it will then associate your garden with a soaking .
i did this to the stray cat we " adopted" when it kept pestering our rabbits after a few soakings he left them alone

Bum spikes was the outcome from the poo... stick cocktail sticks close together in the ground so squatting is uncomfy for them.

That won't protect your guinea pig though!

I'm more concerned with the piggies. I will search for the other thread.

I've been chasing but work 3 days a week so not always home. We have dogs but they are clearly as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

  • Motion detector sonic thing. They get near and it emits a high pitched noise. Then they scarper!

You can get them in B&Q

Not too sure how effective but an old neighbour used fill up empty large fizzy drinks bottle with water with labels off, put them where the cats do their business, something to do with seeing a Cat reflection in bottle scares them off.

Bring your guinea pigs inside, or keep them safer outside. How did the cat even get to them?

Apparently old CD's stuck in the ground deter cats, use the freebies from the papers.
  • don't believe anyone who says get a cat of your own , my cat seems to love all the neighbours cats (especially the girls, although he's not fussy)

Water is the best deterrent without hurting them.

Water pistol or hosepipe is best.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
